https://www.facebook.com/share/v/15Q7w2b1Cj/ It seems Sayyid Madani Miyan attributes it to Tafsir Ruh al-Bayan
there are many faza'il of al-fatihah. but the quote about the nuqtah being discussed below has no basis. if you are not justifying the statement in the OP, then it is ok.
‘Ubadah ibn al-Samit reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There is no prayer for one who does not recite the opening of the Book, Surat al-Fatihah.” This is most significant surah of Quran-e-kareem
this is unfortunately said by some sunni ulama, but it is actually a shiah saying. --- i have not seen this cited by any of the well-known sufi masters or mufassirin. besides, there is an anachronism here - perhaps i have posted here before, or i think i had discussed this with some brothers in private messages. regardless, it is not plausible. the arabic script was not written with dots or diacritics in the 6-7th century. the first century of the hijrah calendar. i.e., at the time of mawla ali karramAllahu waj'hah. so the point [sic] of dots being used in the script is itself moot. abu aswad al-du'ali introduced a system of dots - but they were not to differentiate between letters. rather, they were only to indicate diacritics. fat'hah, dammah and kasrah. furthermore these dots were coloured initially, but the iraqis abandoned it. in fact, the different mus'hafs of the age are identified by these elements. masahif al-amsar, the qur'an copies of the early ages in various cities, is an interesting subject. maybe i will post something on it later. in sha'Allah --- among sunni ulama, this saying:"ana nuqtah taHta'l baa" is attributed to the sufi master shibli (or to his shaykh, sayyiduna junayd) and apparently, he said this in self-effacement when someone asked him: "are you shibli". so he said: am the dot below the baa - implying "i am insignificant". ---- ibn ajibah, murtada zabidi in his it'Haf al-sadah* and books of shaykh al-akbar, mention this. another is abdul ghani nablusi in his sharh of a salawat by ibn arabi. *though zabidi also said: 'it is reported by mawla ali that he said: i am the dot below baa.." but he said it similar to shibli's statement; that is, as a statement of humility and not related to the tafsir. ------ Allah ta'ala knows best.
I may have made mistake in attributing this to al-Kulayni. Found this in a book titled Yanābīʿ al-Mawaddah Sajjalun Aẓīmun lil-Aḥādīth al-Nabawiyyah Fi Manāqib al-Imām ʿAlī wa-Ahl al-Bayt Alaihisalam. Authored by Shaykh Sulaimān bin Ibrāhīm bin Muḥammad al-Balkhī al-Qandūzī al-Ḥanafī. I do not know of him so if anyone can shed any light on him that will be good. Taking a brief scan through this book you can see narrations in their from Nahjal-Balagha which itself is spurious book attribute to Hadhrat ʿAlī رضي الله عنه. Also looking at the publishing house Mu'assasah Al-A'ʿlami al-Matbuah they seem to publish only shia books.such al-Mizan fi Tafsir al-Qurān of Muḥammad Ḥussain Tabataba'i and Majmaʿ al-Bayan Fi Tafsir al-Qurān of Tabrasi and Al-Amthal Fi Tafsir al-Qurān al-Manzal by al-Shirazi. Commonality in all of them are, SHIAʿ
Bump. Sidi @abu Hasan do you happen to know more about this? Is what Brother Ali_Bash is saying true, and do Sunni scholars sometimes take evidences from Shia sources like al-Kafi?
I believe this is in al-Kafi of Kulayni the Shia. I am not aware of it in our Sunni Sources. Allāh Knows Best
There is a saying attributed to Sayyiduna Ali karamAllahu wajhulkarim to the effect of: “The entire Qur’an is contained in Surah tul Fatihah. Surah tul Fatihah is contained in the Tasmiyyah. The Tasmiyyah is contained in the Baa. The Baa is contained in the Nuqtah.” There was a clip of Sayyid Madani Miya translated into English which I've lost where he adds to the saying: “And I am the Nuqtah.” Is the addition of “I am the Nuqtah” authentic, and what is the meaning?
