  1. keep away from wahabis [not saying sh. buti is one!]; one of the great sages of this age says if you see a wahabi you should do tawbah!

@abu anjum: i wrote a reply pointing out the errors in your approach, but then deleted it. your malady seems to have no cure, illa maa shaa Allah.

reason? as if you would touch it with a 20-ft pole.

for everybody else: ignore this guy. his logic is all muddled up. you are wasting your time with people who just want to argue. they just want to convince you by shouting you down.

i agree, saying shaykh-ul-islam does not mean anything, there is a difference between calling someone something and believing him to be such. like some writings of sunnis refer to deos with their titles even though they are refuting them and their kufr.

comon bros - these are nonsensical arguments and discussions and off-topic!

Just because a scholar praised ibn Taymiyya or anyone it makes him a wahhabi?

if that were the case then even Sh. Muhammad ibn `Alawi al-Maliki rh could be considered as such as he used honorific titles even for Ibn Abdul Wahhab!

Sh. Gibril refers to Ibn Taymiyya as 'shaykh al-islam' as well, so what?

Sh. abdul fattah abu ghuddah praised ibn qayyim and Ibn T - so what - how can he be considered a Wahhabi? shaykh Mahmud Sa'id Mamduh said in his الشذا الفواح في أخبار سيدي الشيخ عبد الفتاح.

'If you notice him praising the author of the 'nuniyyah' or his shaykh (Ibn taymiyyah) then, know that, this is out of courtesy and for their excellence in some subsidiary matters, as for usul, then far far away(is he from that).see: http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?i...fattahh0vn.png

And the same goes for Shaykh Buti - he is one of the leading scholars of the Shafi'i school..... show us which traditional sunni scholars of today consider him a Wahhabi? This particular book is, in fact, a decisive answer to the leading Wahhabis of the last century regarding the issue of taqlid and following madhhabs.

One of the leading salafi / wahabis - Shaykh Rabi' bin Hadi al-Madkhali from his book Manhaj Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah fi Naqd al-Rijaal wal-Kutub wal-Tawa'if, as found on Salafi-Publications:

"Rather they are more dangerous! What if he were to see the callers of our time, who have come to accept these deviant books, driving themselves and their youth and followers to pursue the methodologies of deviant and misguided sects?! Rather, they defend these methodologies as well as protect their innovating leaders! How would it be if he were to see the books of Al-Kawtharee and his students Abu Ghudda and his brothers who are from amongst the biggest fanatics in supporting Sufism and madh-habism?! How would it be if he were to see the works of Al-Bootee and his likes from the enemies of the Sunnah and the enemies of the teachings of Tawheed and from the teachings of Ibn Taimiyyah?!"

    Abu Hasan will reply.

But he will first consult the dictionary of pompousness .

So be patient...tarry ye a while...

  8. It is an awesome book, but I don't know if Shaykh Buti will be also called a "wahhabite" or "has wahhabism in his writings" as actually there is no difference between him and shaykh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah. Infact Dr. Muhammad Saeed Ramadan al-Buti went a step further than Shaykh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah when it came to the issue of Ibn Taymiyyah.

abu Hasan, what do you think about Dr. Buti ? He also seems to be favorable of Deobandis on the issue of Imkaan-e-Kadhib ?

Please don't get angry abu Hasan. answer with reason.
