i have visited both fairs a number of times, and these days, mostly you find glossy (often mistake-riddled) editions of popular titles. this used to be good and most of sunni books would come from syria, lebanon, egypt and baghdad. given that this is either a conflict or a warzone, i seriously doubt that there will be a healthy participation. --- if you are looking for certain title, you can order directly from dar al fikr and the rest. there are also amazon style arabic book sellers with a huge book list. --- dubai has CABSAT and GITEX and a number of business exhibitions and media events. who has time to read? and there is also 2020.
Salaam. I wish to know if the abu dhabi international book fair 2014 will showcase islamic books from different publishers of the Arab world. Apparently Sharjah hosts such an event in November but does any such fair take place in dubai or is this the only one? Further, is it preferable to purchase Islamic books from such fairs if we intend to buy them in bulk? jazakAllah. Wassalaam.
