SubhanAllah The respect of Alahazrat for his beloved father is shining clearly from the below snips. Although his beloved Father was a great scholar and Wali of Allah, I feel ahlus sunnah somewhat overlooked so many great personalities overtime. I mean Alahazrat calls his beloved father "Khatam Al Muhaqqiqeen" yet in our lives we just know him 'the father of Alahazrat Mawlana Naqi Ali khan' Allah grant us tawfeeq to seek their blessings.
yes, though alahazrat would never allow it. and that is because mawlana naqi ali passed away relatively young - 51 years according to the lunar calendar and 49 years according to the solar calendar. 1246-1297 AH / 1830-1879 CE. --- ulama at this level progress in huge leaps every year in knowledge, insight and experience. we do not say that alahazrat was greater in rank than his father - but when it comes to output and contribution, there is no argument about it. كم ترك الأول للآخر wAllahu a'alam.
On a separate yet related note, are you aware of any instances where Alahazrat mentions 'Allamah Fazl e Haqq Khayrabadi? The only account I am familiar with is Alahazrat’s visit to Rampur, during which he met Mawlana 'Abd al-Ḥaqq Khayrabadi and remarked that his father was the first to refute the Wahabis. It seems slightly strange that Alahazrat, to my knowledge, makes little to no mention of him.
no doubt, he was a towering scholar and alahazrat respected him immensely - he even wrote a qasidah in his praise. but at some point after forty, alahazrat surpassed him in research and erudition. that is my opinion. Allah ta'ala knows best.
Another intriguing account from Fatawa Ridawiyyah on the stature of Alahazrat's father, Mufti Naqi 'Ali Khan, and Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir Badayuni Notably, these are the two individuals Alahazrat accompanied to Marehra where they were granted Khalifah and Ijazah
Just an intriguing anecdote I came across whilst browsing Fatawa Ridawiyyah, where Alahazrat speaks about his education and his mastery of sciecnes, and then refers to his father [correct me if I'm wrong] as Alahazrat The other titles he gives his father are Hazrat-i Aqdas, Hujjat-Allāh fī al-Ardīn, Mu’jizah min Mu’jizāt Sayyid al-Mursalīn, and Khātimah al-Muhaqqiqīn
