Yes, the Director of Languages at University of Manchester came to the class to meet with Shaykh Monawwar Ateeq and also give a brief talk about why he recently accepted Islam. He spoke about how he started learning classical Arabic, becoming intrigued by the musicality of the language and the beautiful rich poetry in the Holy Qur'an. After studying some translations of the Qur'an he was convinced this had to be the unaltered majestic words of Allah (swt)

maybe someone can confirm, but i was told that the recent convert, whose conversion was well publicised, a professor at manchester university, attended the last session. he came in with moin azmi not too long after the session began...

May Allah (swt) reward all of you who attend and continue to make this course a great success. Alhamdhulillah sisters attendance continues to increase with approx. 80 sisters attending last Friday. Your varied questions definitely make the Q&A sessions interesting and beneficial to all.

MashAllah Shaykh Monawwar Ateeq has a very engaging teaching style. We have completed the Aqidah related part of the course and now moved onto Fiqh. There will be 5 more classes, every Friday evening 7.15pm-8.45pm, you are all encourage to attend.

Alhamdhulillah we have now completed 3 classes in which Shaykh Monawwar Ateeq has brilliantly covered the topics: Tawhid, Angels, Divine Scriptures & Prophethood

Attendance has been excellent with over 250 people each class. Anyone interested is more than welcome, just turn up on a Friday evening, you're not required to have started the course from the beginning and you don't have to register in advance

I recommend anyone from Preston to attend the PTS (Path To Salvation) Course being run there. I believe it is being held in the Madani Institute. For further details please see www.pathtosalvation.co.uk

If someone can record this course and add it online that will be great! The sad thing is their are loads of English lectures and duroos by deobandi wahabi scholars but hardly any from Young Sunni Scholars in the UK.

AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

Masha Allah. Looks like a great effort brother. Jazakum Allahu khayraa.

A humble suggestion would be to make the event as nondesi-friendly as possible, and also try to invite as many converts as possible, for two main reasons:

    1) It is our duty to get the haqq out to one and all, specially converts, in a time when people are fed misguidance left, right, and center, even by those who claim to be "Sunnis".

    2) For strategic reasons for desis to stop being tadpoles in a well in the Islamic activities and develop links and contacts with other communities, specially converts, in their Islamic activities. The tablighis are leagues ahead of us in this, if other western countries experience is anything to go by (I do not live in the UK and don't know about the ground realities there). This WILL have trickle down effects in the larger picture for Maslake Ahle Sunnat.

mashaAllah, it was a good turnout.

mufakkir e islam allama azmi made the introductory remarks and handed over to mawlana monawwar.

everyone was given handouts of the powerpoint slides and also an exercise book and pencil to make notes.

we began with the definitions of aqida and fiqh and were told that the first 6 weeks will be on basic aqida that we must all be aware of and the last 6 weeks will be basic fiqh regarding tahara and salah etc.

mawlana defined tawhid and the attributes of Allah and also shirk.

there were refreshments at the end for all.
