AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

it was Aurangzeb who had the Fatawa Alamgiri compiled under his watch, which is a gift to all Hanafis worldwide. many ulema write rehmatullahi 3alaih after his name. he tried his best to implement the Shari3ah which was made a mockery of under his predecessors, and dealt with the hindus with an iron fist. the hindus of india praise the murtad akbar as the best mughal when in fact he was the worst of the lot. it wasn't just akbar who married hindu women, it was also done by his son jahangir and maybe some others too

the delhi sultanate was a far better Islamist government compared to the mughals (leaving aside Aurangzeb's magnificent contributions to the subcontinental Muslims)

i dont think dara shikoh was a Muslim, but a perennialist. if Shaykh Sarmad Kashani supported him, then this was tantamount to supporting perennialism. There must be some other reasons that Shaykh Sarmad supported Dara Shikoh. After his execution, Hazrat Aurangzeb rahmatuAllah alaih lived for 48 years. It is somewhere in that time, more towards the first half that he most likely repented and became a pious Sunni Muslim, and started implementing Sharia'at for Muslims in Dar al Islam, india, coming into contact with the Naqshbaniyya. In his earliest years he continued with Dara Shikoh policies of appeasing the idol worshippers and perennialists.

i am open to hear other opinions on this history

Many ulema praise Aurangzeb and Aurangzeb own pir was hugely praised, those affiliated with mujjadid alf e thani had also praised him.

Aurangzeb would not accept his brothers rule because he wanted to bring back the ideology of his great grandfather, he strove against the rafidah, the hindus and the sikhs and all the other groups that had interest in ruling at the time.

He never opposed tassawuf, Infact he was surrounded by Naqshbandi awliya

btw Sikh accounts of the lives of Baba Bulleh Shah are generally untrustworthy as they interpret the kalam of Baba Bulleh Shah just as Orientalists do of Mawlana Rumi -- by ignoring all the direct Islamic references and presenting him as a pantheist.

Hazrat Sayyid Abdullah Shah urf Baba Bulleh Shah (q) is one of the greatest saints of the Indian subcontinent.

Aurangzeb (r) and the Mughals in general were tyrannical rulers as far as the common man was concerned whether Hindu or Muslim or Sikh. They were absolutist just like kings usually are. Aurangzeb was personally very pious though but power-hungry. He fought against his brothers and imprisoned his own father. He also had another famous wali Hazrat Sarmad Shaheed executed for political reasons (the saint supported his brother's right to be the ruler, i.e. Dara Shikoh) and used religion as a pretext.

Baba Bulleh Shah (q) preached love and tolerance for all, just like Rumi, but to say he wasn't a Sunni is ridiculous.

Listen to this talk about him by Allama Mukhtar Shah Ashrafi Sahib who is a Sunni alim and murid of Huzoor Madani Miyan:

Just a General thread, Is it true that Bulleh Shah supported the rebellious sikhs who had established a doctrine based upon pure racism and hate for the Mughals specifically and Muslims at large.

I've read the sikhi accounts of him and I always find it hard to reconcile our praise for sufi saints that held apparent 'strange' view such as inclusive religion. The Shia, Hindus, Sikhs all have high praise for these saints, I find it hard to imagine that would be the case unless an inclusive type religion was spread i.e you'll never find hindus, sikhs and shias praise Ala hazrat

Is it true Bulleh shah opposed aurangzeb who many regard as a pious ruler

Bulleh shah's view on guru Gobind singh ji-

When Aurangzeb banned the music and dance, declaring it as haram in Islam–Bulleh Shah, following instructions from his teacher, defiantly went from village to village in Punjab, singing and dancing to his Kafis.

As Aurangzeb beheaded Guru Tegh Bahadur, Bulleh Shah dared to call the slain Sikh leader as Ghazi, a religious warrior.

” Kitay Tegh Bahadur Ghazi hay “

Bulleh Shah hailed the revolutionary spirit of Guru Gobind Singh, calling him a ‘protector’ of those who believed in right to follow their religious belief. He said in a subtle satire:

    Nah Karoon Ab Kee,
    Nah Karoon Baat Tab Kee.
Gar Na Hotey Guru Gobind Singh,
    Sunat Hoti Sab Kee.

    I talk about neither yesterday nor tomorrow;
    I talk about today.
Had Gobind Singh not been there,
They would all be under Islamic sway.

Hence, mentioning that had the tenth Guru not been there, Auranzeb would’ve forced all to convert to Islam( implying Sunnat as circumcision).

Not only did he oppose the persecution of Sikhs in his times, he also advised Banda Bahadur not to avenge Auranzeb’s cruelty by killing innocent muslims.
