    Salaam.

I was wondering about the ruling on watching videos such as documentaries and news clips that contain music in the background. So I asked a mufti regarding it and he said that just as Qawwali is not allowed even though the recital itself may be good so will such videos be not allowed even though the topic being spoken about is jaiz.

We can circumvent the issue of non-mehram women by minimizing the window and listening to the voice alone but how can we find a way around the added music especially since this music is what makes it appealing and engaging in the first place?

I checked google but the only available software that can do this is the adobe audition and it costs $350 and I don't want to shell that much just for some info which I can get by reading books anyways.

If anyone knows another way to get around this please let me know.

    Wassalaam.
