his urdu and hindi books are translated and/or edited by devbandis https://dosya.erkammedya.com/ISLAMI...APLAR/urdu/urduca-emsalsiz-ornek-sahsiyet.pdf https://dosya.erkammedya.com/ISLAMI...PLAR/hindi/hintce-emsalsiz-ornek-sahsiyet.pdf just something that caught my eye. not to cast aspersion on the shaykh. just to point out that our detractors are very proactive in their PR efforts with non-desi Sunnis.
There's also an Urdu Translation of Shifa Shareef from this Underrated website : https://search.app?link=https://books.abdemustafa.com/2024/01/shifa-shareef-urdu.html?m=1&utm_campaign=aga&utm_source=agsadl1,sh/x/gs/m2/4
I would suggest visit the below site, here many books of Seerath are there that too in detail in English which have been written by Shaykh Osman Nuri Topbus of Turkey who is on the Manhaj of Ahle Sunnat Wal jamaat and one of the reputed Ahle Sunnah Scholar of Turkey https://islamicpublishing.org/books/en
http://www.q-news.com/363.pdf See pages 53 to 59. Shaykh Hamza Yusuf pays tribute to Martin Lings. An excerpt: He told me that he was greatly struck by the Prophet’s current involvement with his community, as Muslims around the world saw him in their dreams and derived spiritual sustenance from his vision. Moreover, he said that when writing his book, Muhammad, he was overwhelmed with the presence of the Prophet during the entire time and felt a great blessing in having been able to complete it.
from the article: To make things worse, the natural logorrhea of “the modern mind” is exponentially boosted by the immoral sub-standards of our authors, publishers, and distributors. “This knowledge used to be a noble affair,” al-Awzai said, “until book-writing brought into it those that have no share in it.” That was thirteen hundred years ago. Now, the Tower of Babel is complete. Everyone is a writer, including the business brothers who package bad, semi-bad, and almost not bad products with assembly-line diligence for consumption and propaganda and their accomplices on the distribution end.
Shaykh Hamza mentioned a few of Sidi Abu Bakr Sirajuddin Ling's abberations while still recommending his book.
regardless, the biography by lings is perhaps the best there is in english. barring a few aberrations - as shaykh gibril pointed out somewhere - it is a very good book. i recommend the book.
Wa `alaykum salam: The best book in English on Sira is the translation of Shaykh Dr. Sa`id Ramadan al-Bouti's "al-Fiqh al-Seerah". I would highly advise this, along with Sidi Abu Bakr Sirajaddin Lings rahimahullah's book on Seerah. Another good book is Shaykh Muhammad Shafi`i Okarawi rahimahullah's "Dhikr al-Jamal al-Mustafa" I would also highly advise against reading Safi al-Rahman al-Mubarakfuri's book "al-Rahiq al-Makhtum" unless you are well-versed in the traditional Islamic sciences according to Ahl al-Sunnah in order to be able point out where Al-Mubarakfuri shows his Wahhabi schooling [being that Al-Mubarakfuri was well known for following the Wahhabi sect] Wassalam - abu abbas
also 'jawahir al-ba'h'har' by imam qadhi yousuf bin isma'il an-nabhani. this is a compilation from famous seerat works and a great source of reference. Urdu translation is available. also, seerat-e-rasoole-e-'arabi by 'allamah noor baksh tawwakali, which is concise and good for starters.
shawahid al nabuwwah by mawlana abd al-rahman jami [farsi but an urdu translation is also widely available] ----- for a beginner brother, and assuming you can read archaic english, the single best seerah book, imho, for muslims of today is Martin Lings' amazing, Muhammad: His Life Based on the Earliest Sources. For a much more detailed look there is the 7 volume urdu masterpiece Zia al Nabi by Pir Karam Shah Sahib rahmatullah alayhi. My recommendation: start with Lings. also note that the book Kitab al Shifa by Qadi 'Iyad which sidi AH lists is also available in a great English translation by Aisha Bewley.
