This is a partial translation of Masood Alam Falahi's Urdu book Hindustan Mai Zat-Pat Aur Musalman (‘Casteism Among Muslims in India’) - initial reading, the work seems to be is a conundrum of mishaps, black and white classification errors and individual biases, but nevertheless is an interesting read and has truth to it limited to certain geographical confines of India. The author largely ignores the role of the economic divide which still plays a significant role in the dynamics of muslim societies everywhere and largely affects what is being researched here. Ignoring this he puts forth conclusions regarding caste-ism among Indian Muslims which is bound to be faulty.
