Yes of course but that is irrelevant
Aqdas pls share the link or merge the threads. I would like to see the justification given for drinking poison.

So, Faqir, if let's say - the person drinking poison was "Hamza Yusuf"

Would you reaction be the same?

Him being popular ماشاء الله and the argument the brother is putting forward are not mutually exclusive.

Brothers he clearly said that he knew he wouldn't be harmed due to his imaan.

I am not saying views are a yardstick but I don't think anyone in Britain amongst the Ahlul Sunnati Wal Jamaat is as popular as Shaykh Asrar.

Apologies it appears as though the debate was with atheists.

it has nothing to do with inferiority complex or how many hits a video gets. There’s other ways to get million hits on YouTube.

the question should be if there is any justification in the shari’ah or any precedent from our previous ulema to drink poison to supposedly prove a Hadith correct

and btw I doubt this helps the cause of the Muslims in any dawah - I’m sorry but this seems like very childish behaviour to me.

with due respect brother - we must refrain from popularity contests - irregardless of whether we are right or wrong.

it only suits people who follow charlatans, as they have no other yardstick to go by.

The Christian should have done the same based on gospel of mark 16:18- although they probably would have refused since that verse is not original to the Gospel which in itself is a refutation of their dawah.

In any case, what is the explanation of the hadith as per the scholars? It is normal for missionaries to take things out of context to try and prove their points and the problem with debates is, you won't know that's what their doing until it's ended and you have a chance to actually look it up.

    Jazak Allah khair

Have you got an inferiority complex? Shaykh Asrar knew that he would not be harmed. He said afterward that he is an inheritor of SayfUllah Maslool and fears nothing. The video has been watched more than 5 million times all over the world.

Imagine if this was an accepted way of giving da'wah to kuffar would the companions of the Prophet or the earlier major 'ulema have missed this?
