    perhaps video emailing will become popular so we can hear and see each other.

    but, perhaps some people like the security of hiding behind a screen and remaining somewhat anonymous.

    apart from the relevance of the article to e-mail and forums [which all of us can identify with], some ideas that have been mentioned are also true with respect to traditional learning of islamic sciences versus book-learning.

    data from the article is slightly modified to justify my case:
    book-learning lacks cues like facial expression and tone of voice [emphasis and downplay.] that makes it difficult for recipients to decode meaning well.
    ---
    therefore, the interpretation of RasulAllah's Sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam speech by the saHabah is not the same as reading the same from Bukhari EVEN THOUGH it has been reported with fidelity.
