Naqshbandi Jamaati is right about forums. Sometimes Abu Hasan will post something and people will spoil it with their silly comments. Immature. I prefer Yasser's discourses to his brother. Here are a few samples and I think naqshbandi will like them: Scepticism: Human Choice and Freewill: Proof for Gods Existence:
Maa sha Allah...No doubt aH cleared many misconceptions you had; this is the importance of scholars and the learned. Brother nj; I think it would benefit us all if you were to list the reasons why you felt you had nearly become an atheist, so we know how to deal with this strange phenomenon! What was the reason - Lack of English Islamic literature? English speeches on this topic? Do you have an interest in science and felt that Islam can not answer certain questions? Peer pressure? Do you feel this is common is young muslims today? I'm not sure if you're aware, but Sh Asrar has some excellent videos on tackling Atheism; please go through them on youtube and leave your feedback. Then maybe some students of Sh Asrar can go back and ask to give answers on specifics relating to common Atheist issues that had concerned you.
As Salaamu Alaykum NJ, Incidentally you mention that, I was going through posts from a over a decade ago and we have so many gems from those days.
assalamu alaykum. I am going to keep this short and sweet. I have already emailed brother Abu Hasan in a private email -- he was an old friend and i am glad our friendship was restored. I grew up in a very traditional sunni family but in the last few years -not least due to spending too much time on forums including this one -- i became disillusioned with the state of Muslims in general and Sunnis in particular. Anyway, I almost became an atheist but alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah due to the duas of my Mother and the martyrdom of Imam e Aali Maqaam alayhisalaam* I never actually became atheist and I am happy to announce that I have returned to the aqidah of my ancestors which is that of traditional Sunni Islam and the same aqidah of Pir Sayyid Mihr Ali Shah (q), Ala Hazrat (q) , Rumi (q) and other Sunni buzurgs. I do tawbah for my former comments on here and other forums and repeat and renew my Shahadah: La ilaha il Allah Muhammadun Rasul Allah. La ilaha il Allah Muhammadun Habib Allah! -- I didn't need to do it publically but I' spent so much time on here that I decided it would be better following advise from my dear brother Abu Hasan. -- Having said this I still feel there is a lot of negativity on forums - including this one -- and so I shall restrict my postings to translations of Sufi poetry on occasion. I feel internet forum discussions are ultimately pointless and can be destructive as i found out personally. Instead of being constantly critical of other Muslims I wish this forum -and others -- could return to an earlier time when all we posted and discussed was the love and greatness of the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa Aalihi wa sallam), His Ahlul Bayt, Sahaba and the awliya and Sufi saints. Ya Habib Allah Ya Ali Madad! Ya Panjtan Paak! Ya Ghaus al Azam! Mustafa Jan e Rahmat pe laakhon Salam! Shama e bazm e Hidayat pe laakhon Salam! -- subhan Allah! ma ajmalaka! ma ahsanaka! ma akmalaka! Kithay Mihr Ali, kithay teri sanaa, gustaakh akhein kithey jaa aRiyaan! -- We must follow Rumi in this age of confusion. After all, Sunni Islam was once identiified with LOVE for Allah, Rasul, Ahle Bayt, Sahaba and all awliya. Hum sab darbaaron kay maan-ne waale hain! "Islam ishq-e-Rasool ka doosra naam hai" - Islam is just another name for devotional love of the Prophet. That's the best definition I've ever heard of Islam. Also, we must remember, most of all me, what Ghaus Pak said: do not look the faults of others as long as you have a single fault remaining in yourself! May Allah and His Habib accept this from me inshallah. wa salam. * I recently translated a Farsi manqabat/noha about Imam Hussain (a.s.) - -I may post it on this forum if there is no objection. (I don't know the poet but it is an Iranian.)
