Gambia declares itself as a proper Sunni Islamic Republic. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/...clares-islamic-statehood-151212153025585.html
Gambia declares itself as a secular state. Is that a danger to the Rohingya, if they try to settle in Gambia ? just a question
almost a million Pakistanis of Bihari origins have been able to move back to Pakistan from Bangladesh, though. it has been a slow process. They are far more successful in education and living standards than locals in Karachi and Sindh.
Dalai Lama and aung san suu kyi worried about their political careers http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/...a-muslim-myanmar-migrant-150528110114964.html
i am not supporting pakistan, but it is a powerful country and can make a difference here. however, pakistan has 1.5 million+ Bangladeshis living in its urban centers particularly Karachi. It also hosts 200.000 Rohingya. in other words, near to 1% of the country is Bangladeshi and Rohingya in origin, who i believe now hold Pakistani citizenship
Pakistan has been hosting 3 million Afghans since 1978, most of whom now hold "citizenship". and that has brought Pakistan its own set of huge, long-term headaches. For example HERE that is why they did not intervene in the Yemen adventure. BTW: the Pakistanis stranded in Bangladesh (former East Pakistan), are waiting for a solution for many years; and Bangladesh treats them as foreigners, and also does not want to help Rohingyas (many of whom speak Bengali). if only Muslim countries had a strong unified body to take action! as of now, pressurizing Myanmaar (in any way they can), to take action at home, seems to be the only practical solution.
pakistan would set a record if it acted on the miserable plight of its OWN citizens, leave alone the Rohingya!
turkey have sent battleships to rescue those stranded at sea. Pakistan has voiced concern about the plight of the rohingya but have they acted yet?
It's inevitable that Rohingya will be pushed out or killed. Who will speak for Rohingya? Bangladesh is busy pushing them back to Burma. Thailand has its own history of persecuting Muslims. Indonesia & Malaysia have only stirred now. These two countries given their proximity could have done more to apply diplomatic pressure; but sadly they haven't. OIC is too impotent to even whimper. US, EU, Australia or China don't care. They'd rather crave for the opening for myanmar economy for their corporates to push in. Left to themselves, Rohingyas and Rakhine Muslims will be annihilated by blood-thirsty buddhists within just a decade.
Gambia recently withdrew from the commonwealth citing "that the Gambia will never be a member of any neo-colonial institution and will never be a party to any institution that represents an extension of colonialism". Some stand from a puny country!
At least they will be safe with fellow Muslims. But Rohingya are the native people of Arakan [ and an ancient people as old as Muslims in Awadh or Bihar ] To move them out of Burma would be disastrous. It would encourage all Muslims in West Burma to leave. This is age of globalization. Burma cannot get away with it. We cannot let the Muslim populaion in Western Burma dwindle. This would be disastrous for the Muslims in Burma. We must fight back in Burma for our rights. We cannot leave without a fight.
GAMBIA - an ANNUAL GDP of less than USD 1 billion. This is less than the DAILY GDP of several Middle East Muslim countries.
Gambia has offered to resettle Rohingya boat migrants - saying it was a "sacred duty" to help fellow Muslims. http://allafrica.com/stories/201505191510.html If only other Muslim countries showed similar compassion for fellow Muslims!
