  3. AI experts like Kurzweil predict that within a decade at most artificial intelligence translators will produce perfect translations of any language into any other language in real time and will be so small as to be embedded in our clothes (or even our bodies) thereby making universal communication between all people possible.

seems fair, given the challenges one faces in translating from arabic. some passages from al-jazeera were legible; but classical arabic was terrible. to wit, here is the sample from the thread.

قال الخطابي: إنما لم يجمع صلى الله عليه وسلم القرآن في المصحف لما يترقبه من ورود ناسخ لبعض أحكامه أو تلاوته فلما انقضى نزوله بوفاته ألهم الله الخلفاء الراشدين ذلك وفاء بوعدة الصادق بضمان حفظه على هذه الأمة

    google says:
Khatabi said : but did not collect P.B.U.HH Quran in Saudi expectations of the receipt was definitive, and superseded certain provisions or reading As passed down death inspired successors God adults in the fulfillment of its promise to ensure genuine peace to this nation

atleast they got صلى الله عليه وسلم. correct; i wonder where 'saudi' comes from.

come on. i am not afraid that human translators will go out of business. just scared that we will have a new wave of 'mujtahids.' those hitherto deterred by the unavailability of the translations of classical texts have a new tool to rubbish those who demand qualified scholarship!

    we seek Allah's refuge.
