How do ulama explain the "Women, perfume and prayer" hadith?

    A well known hadith sharif states (paraphrased) that, "Three things of your world have been made dear to me: women, perfume, and the coolness of my eyes is in prayer".

    How have traditional ulama explained this. Whenever I hear desi ulama explain this hadith they always translate 'women' as 'aik naik biwi' [a pious wife]. I have read Shaykh al Akbar's interpretation of this hadith in his Fusus al Hikam in which he mainly discusses the spiritual secrets behind why the Prophet put women first as the wordly thing most beloved to him...
