    tayifah means a group, community, gang.

    the leader of the tayifah [community] of sufis, sayyidu't tayifah is al-junayd;
    the leader of the tayifah [gang] of wahabis is their sayyidu't tayifah.

    imam al-taifah is used for the sufi, junaid al-baghdadi but is also used for ismayil dihlawi.

    the meaning in both cases must be different as one is a respected figure whereas the latter is the criminal who bought wahabism to india.

    what's the difference in meaning?
