If possible include an online option for those of us who don't have strong sunni infrastructure where we live. It would also allow for easy access for non-subcontinentals as well. Faraz Rabbani (despite being deviant) has some sort of system working that people seem to enjoy. May be worth a look into.

anyone who wishes to see a model sunni society:

where 'ilm-e-deen is given a high regard,
where there is little tolerance for deviants,
where ulema are the most respected members of the society, not toe-rags
where there is a very sophisticated system in place to see to it that the deen
enters in people's hearts - and stays there until they die

there are villages in south India which fit the bill exactly. oasis' amidst deserts.

I think that we, here in the UK, have the resources in today's age to teach robust and in-depth courses that will produce thinkers and Ullama who have both eyes open; they know and understand the Islamic Sciences thoroughly and they also understand the Western or secular way of life as well as imploring skills that will benefit them in the West and help them navigate their way through it and, hopefully, to others in the propagation of the Deen.

In my opinion, the Islamic teaching needs to be of a very high level, up to Ifta Level Studies for those who are looking to teach or work for the Deen, but, what is just a important, especially today, is building competency in the students and this can be done by working on their communication skills, reasoning skills, critical thinking and increasing their general knowledge and understanding of science and so on.

I say the above because unfortunately sometimes when our scholars have completed their education they seem and feel out-of-touch with the rest of society. If they are not out of touch with the outside world then their purpose will be better served, thus why I believe our courses should aim to produce scholars who are no longer narrow minded or oblivious to society's status...

In terms of a syllabus or course layout, I'm also a strong advocate of the traditional Dars Nizami system and it is my opinion that it should be taught in the UK more. However, I believe that it should be inclusive of other subjects and the course should include seminars from guest lecturers and professionals from other fields and also hold workshops, to broaden the students' mindsets and, again, prevent tunnel-vision, narrow minded and ill-informed scholars.

The Path to Salvation course run via the FR Institute by Ustadh Sjaad sounds like a good option for you. This highly successful course is run from a number of cities in England.

the results are superb. the course imparts so thorough a training that a student who has worked sincerely becomes eligible to lead a jumuah salah even! more importantly, the students are given fool-proof protection against non-sunni ideologies.

outside kerela the course has been adopted at several places of which I know a few in Maharashtra. at many places it became quite popular in a short duration. but a sincere and hardworking instructor is a must for this.

we are starting it in our city shortly. forms have been given out already. lets see how many turn-up. especially since we are targeting 7-10 year olds for now. its a real challenge to get parents to send their children to an islamic course, what with school and extra-classes, never mind its fardh 'ilm!

alHamdulillah we have managed to arrange for a class, payment and accommodation for the instructor. but we will have do a lot more next year when a new batch comes in. we will need a class and maybe another instructor. we are planning to have a local scholar get trained to teach this course so that we won't have to worry about the rent for his accommodation. everyone please pray for our success.

    jazakAllah.

    wassalaam.

you should try and contact some sunni scholar from Kerela, India. They have this excellent curriculum designed for school and college students. Students are supposed to put in 1-2 hours per day.

The course spans a duration of 5 years in which they cover aqeedah, fiqh and akhlaaq: i.e the fardh part pertaining to all the three categories and some more. They have prepared special textbooks for each grade apart from the standard books. The material differs slightly depending on whether it is for the hanafi or the shafi madhhab.

The instructor should be an 'aalim and should preferably have undergone a 40 day training specifically for this course. So far as I know, there is a teacher training center somewhere in Delhi. Multiple instructors may be needed depending on the strength of the class. Multiple batches may also be needed in order to accommodate school/work timings.

In the Western world and especially in the UK, there are many institutes that provide evening or weekend Islamic courses. Probably there are many brothers on the forum that are involved with them.

My question is how should an 'ideal' curriculum for such a course look like?

    Keep in mind the following:
-Meant for Hanafis (mainly Sunnis from with Subcontinental root)
-A course of a couple of year: 3-5 years (or more)

If possible, please also explain your proposal.
