  1. You're talking two different things here: 1. The ability to fight infection and bacteria which has nothing to do with labour pain, and 2, the Barakah of a particular persons beard.

The ability of reducing pain is proven via different routes. Since Muslims and Non Muslims have beards, any benefit Allah may provide is attached to the person the hair comes from. So its the Person + his clothing, beard, saliva etc. where Allah may provide Shifa'a

Has anyone heard of a Jamali Dari (Beard)?

Definition: A beard that has never been trimmed or shaved, meaning the hairs are the original hairs from the onset of puberty.

Now I know this will sound weird to many people, but I have heard in a lecture by an Indian scholar that there are many benefits to this type of beard. He mentioned one benefit, that if someone takes water and dips the Jamali Dari (Beard) into it, and gives this water to a pregnant woman who is in labor to drink, it will reduce the pain of the delivery and make it easier to deliver the baby.

I felt compelled to post this thread because there has been some news lately about beard bacteria and its amazing antibiotic properties. And well, if science proves this, then drinking water from a Jamali Dari (Beard) doesn't seem so weird or foreign. This would only further prove that Islam has proven the benefits of beards for centuries.

Does anyone have any references for Jamali Dari (Beard) or maybe something related to the benefits of having a beard, from an Islamic scientific/medicinal perspective?

Beard bacteria could lead to new antibiotics
