Someone once told me a story about shaykh Abdul Qadir Al Gillani - that he was kidnapped by some jinn and, to cut a long story short, he met a jinn who had been a sahabi. As a result, shaykh said that he himself was a Tabi'. Now, i don't know the veracity of such a story, it was just something a random person told me once but it has me thinking: 1. Can a jinn be considered a companion? 2. Should you meet such a jinn, would that make you a tabi'? I've also heard that there are books of narrations with jinn narrators in there but since we don't have access to the world of jinn, we cannot verify their trustworthiness. As a result, we wouldn't be able to verify if a jinn had indeed been a sahabi for the same reason?
