    salam hazrat.
    jazak Allahu khaira.
    Astaghfirullah. My intention was not to disrespect mawlana asrar sahab.
    It was more for my sake really. Because I had been considering those positions to be mistaken, as opposed to deviance, and if they are deviance then I didn't want to be considering a deviant position to be a valid yet mistaken position since that might itself be deviance (meaning that I didn't want to fall into deviance). That is the only reason for why I asked. It was not to point fingers at the shuykh. I love them both.

    forget about past. take the latest statement and go forward.
    one thing you need to learn in your life is to learn to move on. it will make your life immensely better and peaceful.

    it could be a misunderstood or ambiguous statement. this is clear so take what is clear and leave the doubtful.

    unless you are practising your skills for being prosecutor in chief, you could have ignored it. and you will not be questioned on judgement day about it.

    there could be many reasons - it might have been a misunderstanding, poorly worded statement, incorrect description, etc. it does not have to be deviance all the time. what matters for common people is that the scholar has clarified his stance and should take this as his position. bickering about some statement in the past is of no use to anyone.

    Salam
    I have a few question please.
    1) Would this count as a retraction by shaykh Asrar sahab from his previous positions: salah of laymen and ignorance of aqida, praising deviants?
    2) Does this mean that these positions were deviance and not mistakes, and hence he retracted?

    مفتی شاہد علی اور شیخ اسرار رشید کے درمیان مشترکہ اعلامیہ

    1. حنفی مذہب میں عام عوام اور علماء کے لیے بدعتیوں کے پیچھے نماز مکروہ تحریمی ہے، جن کے عقائد کفریہ ہوں ان کے پیچھے نماز باطل ہے۔

    2. سنی عوام کے لیے عقائد سیکھنا اور سنی اماموں کے پیچھے نماز پڑھنا اور گمراہ لوگوں سے دور رہنا لازم ہے، جہالت کوئی عذر نہیں کیونکہ علم حاصل کرنا فرض ہے۔

    3. ایم ایم اے اور باکسنگ جائز نہیں کیونکہ ان میں چہرے کو مارنا اور نقصان پہنچانا شامل ہے جو کہ حدیث شریف میں واضح طور پر حرام ہے۔

    4. گمراہوں کی تعظیم جائز نہیں اور ان کی ذات میں اور ان کی کسی بھی صفت جیسے عمر، علم وغیرہ، میں ان کی بدعت مشتبہ کر رد کرنے کے تناظر میں۔

    5. جو شخص گمراہوں کے ساتھ اتحاد کی دعوت دیتا ہے اور ان کی تعریف کرتا ہے یا ان کے رد سے روکتا ہے یا ان کے رد کرنے کی دعوت دیتا ہے وہ عمل میں صلح کلی ہے اور دینی اعتبار سے ناقابل اعتبار ہے۔ جو شخص تمام فرقوں کو صحیح اور دینی سمجھتا ہے، وہ یقینا گمراہ اور عقائد میں صلح کلی ہے۔

    6. نجف، کربلا، بغداد اور دیگر مزارات اولیائے کرام رضی اللہ عنہم کی زیارت کرنا، غیر شرعی امور سے بچتے ہوئے، سنیوں کے معمولات سے ہے اور جائز و مندوب ہے۔

    7. دونوں توسل اور استغاثہ نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وسلم اور اولیائے کرام رضی اللہ عنہم کے ذریعے جائز ہیں۔

    8. برصغیر، بلکہ ابتدا میں اور دیگر جگہوں میں بریلوی اہل سنت کے راستے پر چلنے والوں میں سے ہیں جو اہل سنت عقائد کے علمبردار ہیں، یعنی وہ لوگ جو اصل میں حضرت امام احمد رضا خان رحمتہ اللہ کے حقیقی پیروکار ہیں اور جھوٹے دعویدار نہیں۔

    9. طاہر القادری عیسائیوں اور یہودیوں کو مومن قرار دینے، کرسمس منانے اور اپنی دیگر کھلی گمراہیوں کی وجہ سے یقینی طور پر گمراہ ہے۔

    10. امام احمد رضا خان بریلوی رحمتہ اللہ ایک حقیقی، ماتریدی اور قادری ہیں، اہل سنت کے ائمہ میں سے ہیں، دین کے مجدد ہیں اور جو بھی ان کے عقائد کے سبب سے ان سے دشمنی ظاہر کرتا ہے وہ یقینا گمراہ ہے۔

    11. وہ مشہور شخصیات یا تنظیمیں جو گمراہوں کی حمایت اور ترویج کرتی ہیں دین میں ناقابل اعتبار ہیں اور علماء کے لیے ان کی مجلس میں شرکت سے اجتناب لازمی ہے سوائے اس کے کہ ان سے مناظرہ یا رد و اصلاح کے لیے۔

    12. جو شخص گمراہی کو اعلانیہ طور پر فروغ دیتا ہے اسے اعلانیہ طور پر رجوع کرنا چاہیے اور خفیہ گمراہیوں سے خفیہ رجوع کرنا ہے۔

    This is the text version of the Joint Statement cosigned by Shaykh Asrar and Mawlana Shahid Ali, dated 5th July, 2025.

    Joint Statement Between
    Mufti Shahid Ali and Shaykh Asrar Rashid

    1. Salah behind deviants is makruh tahrimi in the Hanafi madhhab for all laymen and scholars alike. Salah behind those whose beliefs are kufr is invalid.

    2. Layperson Sunnis must learn ‘aqa’id and pray behind Sunni Imams and must stay away from deviants. Ignorance is no excuse as seeking knowledge is obligatory.

    3. MMA and boxing are impermissible as they entail striking the face and causing harm which is forbidden clearly in Hadith Sharif.

    4. It is not permissible to honour deviants per se and nor can we honour them in any of their attributes such as age, knowledge etc. in context of not refuting their heinous bid'ah.

    5. Anyone who calls for unity with deviants and praises them or prevents their refutation or calls for not refuting them is a sulh kulli in action and unreliable in matters of religion. One who deems all sects as valid and true is certainly misguided and a sulh kulli in beliefs.

    6. Visiting Najaf, Karbala, Baghdad and other blessed shrines of Awliya Kiram رضي الله عنهم whilst avoiding any matter against the Shari'ah, is from the practice of Sunnis and permissible and mandub.

    7. Both tawassul and istighathah through the Prophet ﷺ and the Awliya Kiram رضي الله عنهم are permissible.

    8. In the Indian subcontinent originally and elsewhere Barelwis are amongst those who follow the path of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah and are upholders of Sunni beliefs, i.e. those who actually follow A’la Hazrat رحمه الله and are not false claimants.

    9. Tahir al-Qadiri is certainly misguided for his labelling of Christians and Jews as believers, for his celebration of Christmas and for his other open heresies.

    10. Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Barelwi رحمه الله is a Hanafi, Maturidi and Qadiri, one of the Imams of Ahl al-Sunnah, the reviver of the religion and anyone who displays animosity towards him due to his beliefs is certainly misguided.

    11. Those public figures or organisations who support and promote deviants are unreliable in the religion and scholars must not attend their gatherings unless it is to debate or refute and rectify them.

    12. Anyone who promotes misguidance publicly must retract publicly and private wrongs are retracted privately.
