Mehmet Özturan, in his paper on sharif's risalah lists four different manuscripts. https://www.nazariyat.org/en/issues/2/m0011 download full text pdf here: https://www.nazariyat.org/content/5-sayilar/2-2/4-m0011/mehmet-ozturan.pdf ==== the above research paper lists three - and nazif pasha collection is within the suleymaniye library. it is not clear whether the author (of the article below) has taken information from the paper (as it is not cited as a source), or whether he has himself seen the manuscripts. the statement: "it is possible that this second work is in fact identical.." would sounds odd unless both manuscripts have been examined. --- in the paper, mehmet ozturan writes: === he mentions a fourth copy of the risalah in another library; three (including nazif pasha copy) in suleymaniye. ==== as for the manuscript mentioned to be found in the london office, even though i had relied on another biographer earlier, i did some more research now. in my defence, i was focused on the risalah (of hadith principles) per se and since the bio was additional information, i had not researched the biographer's comments. on a website listing oriental manuscripts, a number of works attributed to sayyid-sharif are listed under his name: https://www.fihrist.org.uk/catalog/person_19930855 i could not locate the the risalah fi taqasim al-ulum in the india office collection. however, in cambridge university library, one such manuscript is found #788, but the authorship is labelled as anonymous and is listed under "druze books" https://www.fihrist.org.uk/catalog/work_1817 i located the PDF of the list of MSS on archive.org: (see p.296) https://dn790009.ca.archive.org/0/items/handlistofmuhamm00camb/handlistofmuhamm00camb.pdf again, we do not know if it is a druze book with the same name - or sharif's risalah, miscategorised. ==== Allah ta'ala knows best.
There are a few things in the biographical article that i noticed and did some more research; some corrections and updates will be made in the next incremental release of our biographical note. in sha'Allah. --- from the article: ---- in the biographical notice of risalah, i have mentioned: this was based on the list of books and descriptions by the editor of allamah sharif's gloss on al-kash'shaf by dr. rashid, as duly noted: in which he says: --- i had relied on the same biographer's comments regarding the manuscripts mentioned, to which i did/do not have access. concerning this risalah, i was able to find a paper by a turkish researcher - some details of which will be incorporated in our next version. in sha'Allah.
a detailed bio of sayyid-sharif along with a list of his works can also be found in the risalah on ilm al hadith. https://www.ridawipress.org/wp-content/uploads/risalah-sharif.pdf
