Sidi--If I may humbly correct you, the name of the kitab is "al-Radd Al-Muhtar Hashiya Durr al-Mukhtar" of Imam Ibn `Abidin (also referred to as Fatawa Shami) The commentary of Al-Radd al-Muhtar by Imam Ahmad Rida Khan Barelawi (r) is "Al-Jadd al-Mumtar" and can be found on the Da`wat-e-Islami website. Wassalam
Salam `alaykum I am a Maliki who does sadl---Sadl is the mashur opinion of the Malikis. As for the Hanafi madhab and sadl, it is permitted but disliked according to the Hanafis as pointed out by Sidi Faraz wassalam abu abbas
Salam Alaikum Brothers & Sisters. This is the answer I got from Sunnipath: Question: Is it possible for a Hanafi to pray with the hands to the side during during obligatory prayers like the Malikis? If not, why? Answer: Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah, I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits. Placing one's hands to the side would not invalidate the prayer, in the Hanafi school, but would be disliked and improper because it is understood to be contrary to the sunna. [ Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah; Ibn al-Humam, Fath al-Qadir; Usmani, I`la' al-Sunan] At the same time, we accept and respect the Maliki school's position as followable, and cannot object to those who follow the noble school of this great mujtahid imam. See: Why do Hanafi place their hands below the navel - Shaykh Abdurrahman ibn Yusuf (SunniPath Answers) Please search SunniPath Answers (http://qa.sunnipath.com) for related answers. Faraz Rabbani A Hanafi can pray with the hands to the sides, but it is makruh as the brother said above. At least the prayer is valid
Again, sidi Abbas, are you a mufti? If not it sure would be nice with a reference to a fiqh book or a shaykh.
Salam alaikum everyody! I have a question regarding placing of the hands during prayer. Is it possible for a Hanafi to pray with the hands to the side during obligatory prayers like the Malikis? I personally think this is ok, because both folding hands or praying with hands to the sides is not obligation, but sunnah (Correct me if i'm wrong). May Allah forgive my mistakes.
