    Assalam Alaikum.
It was recommended by someone at yanabi.com that I might get answers to my questions here,so hopefully that will be the case.
(These questions have come up during discussions with a non-muslim friend who is reading about evolution vs creationism and wanted to know the Islamic viewpoint and if their was knowledge about these things.Of course I too am interested!

Here are some of my questions:

1.If the first children born (I have been told that in Islam) were all brothers and sisters of different colours who later interbred,at what point did the subsequent descendants end up being segregated ... oriental people in one area etc? Is this related to the Tower of Babel story in the Bible?

    2. Why is it that dark skinned people come from hot countries and lighter skinned people come from colder countries? (We are told originally the first children were all different - black, white etc)

3.How long has mankind been on the planet? (I have been told either 7000 years or 70,000 years

    4. I have also been told that there have been battles fought on other planets with the help of an Islamic warrior with a special sword made of light. Were those involved in the battles there also human (remember Ja'jooj and Ma'jooj are considered part of mankind but are described as physically very different from us).
