  2. Shaykh ul Islam Aa’la Hadrat Imam Ahl us Sunnah Mujaddid Aa’zam Imam Ahmad Rida Khan radi Allahu Ta'ala a'nhu ‘s excellent explanation of the twelve Khulafaa Ahaadith

Reference Jami’ ul Ahaadith Volume 2 Kitaab ul Khilafah page 478-481

Shaykh ul Islam Aa’la Hadrat Imam Ahl us Sunnah Mujaddid Aa’zam Imam Ahmad Rida Khan radi Allahu Ta'ala a'nhu writes that eight have already come:

    • Sidiq Akbar (Abu Bakr)
    • Faruq Aazam (Umar)
    • Uthmaan Ghani
    • A’li Murtada
    • Hasan Mujtaba
    • Ameer Mua’wiyah
    • A’bdullah ibn Zubayr
    • U’mar ibn Abd ul A’ziz

And one will surely be coming Hadrat Imam Mahdi radi Allahu Ta'ala a'nhum ajma’in. the knowledge of the rest of them is with Allah (A'zza wa Jall ) and the Messenger (sall Allahu a'laihi wa Aalihi wasallam).

  4. That hadith is referring to 'leaders', not spiritual Imams, sayyidi Abdal Qadir. The fact that sunnis believe the a'immah of Aal al-Bayt are limitted to 12 is what makes me think it is due to influence of the rafidah.

AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

The hadith that the ummah shall have 12 imams from the Quraysh exists in the Ahlus Sunnah too akhi, in the sahah sitta, afaik. However, the Sunnis are no fixated on WHO they are as the hadith just mentions 12 from QURAYSH, although almost all are certain that Imam Mehdi is the last one of them. The shias state with certainty who those 12 are and all from Ahl al-Bayt. No doubt we respect the great imams of the Ahl al-Bayt but we don't state with certainty that the Prophet's, 3alaihis salam, implication in THAT hadith was towards these specific 12 members of the Ahl al-Bayt.

Ala Hazrat has a discourse on it that I read years ago, but I don't have a clue where to locate it right now.

  7. brother nj, why only twelve? the only reason is due to influence from the batil rafidi sect!

the rafidah hate sayyiduna al-Imam Zayd b. 'Ali Zayn al-'Abidin (they narrate that he would drink amongst other absolute lies), as well as many of the other a'immah. we respect *all* the a'immah of the Ahl al-Bayt. imam Ja'far's son, 'Ali al-'Uraydhi did not make bay'ah to Imam Musa al-Kadhim, and that's just one example.

This is a great idea! On that note, can anyone reccomend reliable books in Arabic that detail the biographies of the Twelve Imams?

  9. :s1:

I wish our scholars would give talks about the lives of these 12 imams and biographical detail because the average Sunni will know very little about the actual details of their blessed lives.

We shouldn't JUST spend all our time refuting heretics. Maybe some brother on here can get Hazrat Pir Sayyid Irfan Shah sahib to do a series of 12 talks on the lives of the 12 imams or Shaykh Asrar Rashid can or Mawlana Ansar al Qadri etc etc etc and have it on madani/ummah/noor/takbeer tv and on here of course and youtube! Those kind of informative talks would be loved by so many especially if they had a series of them in English; perhaps have one scholar do them in Urdu and another English speaking scholar do them in English. What do you think?
Unfortunately a lot of youngsters-and not-so-young-sters immediately think "Shia" when someone talks about the Aimma e Ahle Bayt. Not learned brothers like on here but the average Muslim in the West.

    insha Allah!
