no, not all of them will be removed. some will still be around - but used in a way that doesn't hamper ease of use.

    inshaAllah.

please Sidis do not remove those flowery names, I love them, they are by far the biggest attraction to me  on these forums. May be we can come to a compromise instead.

    update:
tried some stuff but the forum software is - i think - awful. i haven't touched forum admin for ages so it took some time to feel around groping in the dark. i did some changes and there were errors all over the place. and before i could even think of fixing it, suddenly i was busy with so many things. i decided to shut down the forum until later - and then i forgot. it is okay now, but the changes are still not there - you may see them shortly inshaAllah.

    sorry for the inconvenience.

usually, we share the work in an equal measure - i make announcements (and criticize) and abu nibras does everything else. but abu nibras is away at the moment so....

    wa's salam.

    Assalāmu Álaykum

After criticizing members for not posting in the proper sections, I looked at the forum once more and realized that perhaps, the mistake was ours after all. Those flowery names might have been a cause for confusion. We have therefore, decided to be straighforward instead of beating around the bush.

We shall now, inshāAllāh, reorganize the forum, rename the sections and move the posts around. Please bear with us.

    From the Cut-and-Paste dept.

CaP remains an inevitable feature of online life, even if it is annoying at times. You are free to paste anything from your own work (as long as it doesn’t contradict our simple rules.) If you paste from others’ work, it is only fair that you also mention the author and the source. It is your responsibility to obtain permission from the author or the source (website/book.) If it is from a website, it is better to just leave a link here. It is quite possible that following that link, a reader may find more useful information on that website.

That might be a bit problematic because following certain links, one may end up at Knockturn Alley. I am sure most of us will exercise sound judgement while dealing with awful links. Also, if your work has been reproduced here without permission, write to us and we will, inshāAllāh, remedy the situation.

Personally, I don’t mind anyone using anything I write or translate; feel free to use it as you please. No need to ask me and no need to acknowledge. However, everything else that is posted here by all others is in the ‘please-ask-before-you-use’ category as described above. You may write to the authors and get their permission.

Please remember us in your du'as.
    Wa's Salam.

    * There are many reasons why writers restrict their work, though most of them will give you permission if you just ask. Acknowledgement is in order because the value of a work is greatly increased when attributed to an author of repute or an authority in that subject.
