What's the point of fatwa? Is it going to lead to anything useful? Will it lead to Palestinian freedom? Will it stop the genocide? Is this for Muslim public or rulers of Islamic states? Why now? After 18 months of genocide? Why no fatwa on previous instances? When Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan etc. were being killed in larger numbers? Why no fatwa against American & European powers supporting Israel, with weapon and other resources (and shielding against ICJ/ICC judgement)? What's ruling against Saudi, UAE and other Israel-friendly countries? Self-anointed Grand Mufti of Pakistan, Taqi Uthmani, gets loads of free publicity and public acclaim for his daring fatwa. Will Taqi Uthmani send his deoband-affiliated seminary students for jihad? For conspiracy-theory minded ones. Would this fatwa conference have happened without the active consent of current govt. and army?
