    It is said that Hosni Mubarak appointed him as the Shaykh al-Azhar sometime before he went into coma and that it's because of his appointment that the salafis couldn't take over al-azhar ash-shareef after the uprising was over.

    He is said to be possess a very amiable and down-to-earth disposition.

    I know that some people will say all this is hikmat-e-amali but I seriously doubt that senior ulema in the Indo Pak will concur.

    If they don't will they be guilty of narrow-mindedness and of losing sight of the bigger picture?

    Is it that henceforth the world will only go like this and those who don't like it should forsake it and live by themselves, perhaps with a small knot of like minded followers?

    And if they do this, will they be leaving the naive sheeple to the wolves just because.....well, I don't know...they don't want to dirty their hands with a bit of clay?
