I think you in the Usa has more options when it comes to sunni communities like arabs and lebanese. In Europe we have mostly sunni muslims from Turkey, Algeria, North Africa, Pakistan and Bangladesh speicially in Uk. Pakistanis are becoming more and more integrated in Uk. And they feel it is their home now. France is more islamophobic because of their fake so called secularism but the sunni muslims algerian also feels home there. Nobody can Stop Islam in Europe. There are 100000's european converts here. I have seen now that our Pakistani woman also marry converts over here. So its good way to share Deen and culture. With all negativity against muslims there are also good things over here. I have not felt much racism in scandinavia despite I am first generation. It depends on your Ihlaaq and manners and adab
Yes, I am in the US. I want to clarify that my observation is based on my own experiences as a Sunni Brelvi Muslim in this country. I hope I am wrong in my assessment. And this really only applies to those from the subcontinent; I'm not talking about Arab Sunnis or the others. Part of the issue is that America is a "melting pot" and we have one of the highest, if not highest, number of immigrants in the world. So naturally people want to stick their roots and marry what they consider as safe. We don't really have too many third and fourth generation Sunni Brelvis just yet, but I can see that cousin marriage dynamic changing as those generations come light. There's much more to this topic that I can add, but I don't want to detract from this thread which is for the UK.
Is that brother in Usa? I am shocked. I thought that sunnimuslims were generally more open minded in Usa and far more integrated than in Europe. Here in Scandinavia and Uk specially 3rd and 4rth generation Pakistanis dont marry much in home country to cousins. Its over now. They are more educated and open minded. Even our women here has married to people from Somalia and middle east. But majority still prefers to marry with people from same country or same culture. Same in the Uk. Not many cousin marriages anymore. But we dont have any good sunni barelvi rishta services. That is the sad part. ☹️
Wa alaykumusalaam wa rahmatullah, I can't comment on the UK but in the US, it is near impossible. Most Sunni Barelvi rishtas happen amongst family from what I noticed. In the US, this is one area (matrimonial services) where we are far behind all of the other groups that it's so sad, unfortunate, and down-right pathetic. The US is so diverse that Muslims here will marry converts and people from other nationalities, but our Sunni Brelvis only stick to people from their own caste, city, and country from back home. Which usually 99% of the time is their cousins.
