AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

so this is another one of my psychotic ideas that most probably won't see the light of day.

as Muslims, of course we believe Allah is the Final Judge of everything and we seek our rewards from Him; and indeed as the final objective, we all want to die as Muslims and be raised under the Prophet's 3alaihis salam liwaail ma3qood

but for this world, considering modern-day parlance, we need to break down that ultimate goal with SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound) KPI's to "judge" our ulama as well as ourselves (performance appraisals - everyone loves them, right?)

let's start with some broad based KPI's for the ulama which can be tweaked to specific times and places, and i'm only using this as a scratch pad, please do contribute!

    Sunni aqidah:

    1. # of books written
    2. # of books critiqued, or commented upon
    3. # of books taught to students of knowledge
    4. # of books taught to the congregation (discussed and explained to them)
    5. # of books translated in other languages
    6. # of books read for continuing personal development

    Hadith & related sciences

    1. # of books written
    2. # of books critiqued, or commented upon
    3. # of books taught to students of knowledge
    4. # of books taught to the congregation (discussed and explained to them)
    5. # of books translated in other languages
    6. # of books read for continuing personal development

    Fiqh

    1. # of books written
    2. # of books critiqued, or commented upon
    3. # of books taught to students of knowledge
    4. # of books and/or topics taught to the congregation (discussed and explained to them)
    5. # of books translated in other languages
    6. # of books read for continuing personal development
    7. # of fatawa issued
    8. # of present day masail studied and addressed in depth with conclusive rulings (bitcoin, AI, animal organ transplant, blockchain technologies, IVF, finance, banking & stock markets, mergers, acquisitions, royalties, trademarks and copyrights and best interests of Muslims etc.)

    Quran

    1. # of Surahs explained to congregation
    2. # of Huffaz trained
    3. # of tafasir read, authored, explained

    Social Relations & Issues

    1. Explaining with daleels or making our position clear to people of other sects/religions - unapologetically so
    2. Connecting with the youth 13-25 years old, addressing their issues and problems in languages and ways they can understand
    3. Connecting with the working class 25-50 yrs old, addressing their issues and problems in languages and ways they can understand
    4. Addressing & debunking modern "isms" - modernism, atheism, gandhiism, liberalism, lgbt, feminism, secularism, capitalism, marxism, zionism etc.
    5. Addressing societal problems - family disputes and marriage problems, drugs, zina, alcohol, clubbing, training on dealing with lgbt lobby at school
    6. Political Involvement - Promoting Islamic & Muslim interests and taking them up with politicians and/or the powers that be (those who can approach their president/pm should do that, those who can only reach their local area municipal councilor/corporator should do that) (this was what inspired me to come up with this idea)
    7. Calling other Muslims to take strong political action and towards activism/solutions for acute Islamic problems and interests (not talking about asking them to donate old jackets to the poor for winter or for earthquake relief)

    8. Opening up, supporting, fund-raising for Muslim schools
    9. Maintaining 100% transparency on funds collected from the public
    10. Charity activities
    11. Mosque building or contribution to it

that's all i can think of at this hour. we also need to come up with some necessary KPI's and performance scoring models for them
