1. Yes, I heard a Sunni individual speak highly of Anwar Shah Kashmiris work. My observation was based on the individual’s remarks, not my personal endorsement of Kashmiri’s works. 2. When I mentioned the individual "comes across as a learned man," it was based on his manner of speech and the references he made. However, I cannot claim certainty about the depth of his studies regarding Kashmiri’s works, which is why I said I presume he has read them and also added "I could be wrong." 3. I do not personally find Anwar Shah Kashmiri’s works "amazing." As for Fayd al-Bari, I have not read it, nor do I have any plans to do so. I simply shared an anecdote I encountered in this regard. If you have an issue with me referring to him as Sunni, it’s worth noting that there’s context to it. He wasn’t from the subcontinent. That said, your line of questioning feels more like a cope interrogation rather than an open discussion.
in other words, you 'heard' a sunni who is learned according to you: and who, you presume ---- which you think is the reason the other brother thought anwar shah is 'amazing'. ==== if you, or your acquaintance (the sunni speaking highly) or anyone else has read fayd al-bari, or portions or browsed it - let us know of their opinions why they think it is 'amazing'.
Yeah Nothing "Amazing" About that.. I think challenging traditional ulama on agreed upon points & being edgy online just gives people that massive ego boost they so much crave for
Anwar Shah Kashmiri was a Shaytan. He was part of debates in which Deobandis were defending insulting statements of Thanvi and Saharanpuri.
you should have asked him if he has browsed it himself, or read something from it. or was he just repeating the praise of others.
Honestly very smart questions Sidi abu Hasan. Sorry if what I said was inapt; I see now that I was really generalizing the whole thing. The brother should have a chance to speak for himself as you would prefer.
Sidi I believe Brother Hassan mentioned in another thread that he himself is not a Barelvi, which may give you some more context.
Anwar Shah Kashmiri is well known among some Arab Sunnis. I heard a Sunni individual speak highly of him, particularly praising his commentaries on Sahih Bukhari (he has 2) and his work Aqeedatul Islam fi Hayatul Isa (Alaihis Salam), a refutation he wrote against the Qadiyanis. I personally feel he gained prominence largely because most of his works are available in Arabic, combined with the Deobandis taqiyya marketing. For instance, I heard that he himself acknowledged that Sarkar Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is Noor in one of his Hadith commentaries, a view that many Deobandis from the subcontinent fighting us from decades. Imagine if the works of Huzoor Muhaddith-e-Kabeer Allama Zia-ul-Mustafa Qadri (his Arabic Darse of Sahih Bhukari and yet to be published sharah sunan al Tirmidhi) and Allama Ghulam Rasool Saeedi Rahimahullah (especially his Tazkiratul Muhaddiseen and Sharah Sahih Muslim, not to forget his amazing two Quran tafseer all available in urdu) were translated and made accessible to Arab audiences.
Muhadith Anwar Shah Kashmiri was an amazing scholar. There's a reason why him and his books are praised and accepted worldwide.
