the Qur'an says that the dear prophet sayyidina rasulAllah sallAllahu 'alaihi wasallam is ordered to say: ana awwalul muslimeen - i am the first muslim this is a fine point that i read in a book. a muslim is someone who bows to Allah's will. the first muslim is the one who first bowed to/accepted Allah's will. the very first command that Allah issued was Kun [be] when He began creation. so, the very first time Allah announced Kun, the first creation came into existence and was, therefore, the first muslim. the noble master sallAllahu 'alaihi wasallam is the first muslim and hence the first creation. i really enjoyed reading this tafsir.
