    Kutbaat-e-AlaHazrat

I started reading this book for the first time Kutbaat-e-AlaHazrat and came across these beautiful points accertained from sayyidi AlaHazrat's Kutbaat.

I think this habit of bursting out in laughter has been borrowed from the west.

I am sure people must have noticed, the western public are always on the verge for the speaker to say something cheesy so they can burst out in laughter.

Our Muslim brethren have lost or didn't bother to learn the etiquette's.

When I compare current Bayan's with rare recordings from the past say 1960's. you hear the Ulema bursting into tears and the awam would cry as well.

In the past there was this Dard and Muhabba, both in delivering and listening of Bayan which unfortunately in our times has completely disappeared.

also, did our speech-makers not see this?

as for sayyid irfan shah's speech, fair enough, i take that on board because i am not saying that we should teach the 4 fard of wudu during a conference, what i am saying is that talking of complex issues is not much use either.

yes, the aqida of ahlu's sunnah should be presented, as shah sahib himself does so often and so well. i would even say that a technical speech, when needed, now and then, is acceptable too. but, to do this every time you speak to impress the crowd and gain 'wah wahs' is no use. even if a technical speech is delivered, it must be simplified. e.g. we recently read a book, 'truth behind a lie', which is a technical issue but it is explained in easy terms.

to address a crowd of 60 year old haji sahib's who don't know they are muqallids of imam abu hanifa about ijma'a qat'i and dhanni is of no use to them. go use youtube for that and give our 'awam something of use.

it is clear that most of our 'awam can't read sura fatiha properly etc. this is why i am against our scholars delivering speeches that are actually quite intricate aqida issues etc.

for me, it is of no use talking about the different types of ijma'a to a crowd of illiterate people who perhaps cannot make wudu properly and don't know the 4 fard of it.

i am more and more inclined to this idea and would opt for books of tasawwuf, such as hujjat ul islam imam ghazzali. they are very rich and force us to make muHasaba. that is what our 'awam need, not a whole one hour lecture on analysing the sanad of a single hadith.

surely, our speakers will be asked about what they spent their time preaching.
