the famous hadith in SahiH muslim: al-Tuhuru shaTr al-iyman: cleanliness is a part of faith. imam nawawi notes that Tahur means, water used for cleanliness; and Tuhur means the act of cleaning. similarly wuDu is the act of ablution, and waDu with fat'Hah is the water used for wuDu. that here, in this hadith, it is Tuhur with Dammah, is favoured by most scholars:
