wuDu is action, waDu is noun; similarly Tuhur and Tahur; also, suHur and saHur

 

so: we use the waDu from the wiDu to do wuDu?

 

and wiDu, with kasrah on waw, is the pot to do wuDu from.

 

the famous hadith in SahiH muslim:

al-Tuhuru shaTr al-iyman: cleanliness is a part of faith.



imam nawawi notes that Tahur means, water used for cleanliness; and Tuhur means the act of cleaning.

similarly wuDu is the act of ablution, and waDu with fat'Hah is the water used for wuDu.
