if everyone stuck to the rulings of Sayyidi 'Ala Hazrat, then many of the issues you mentioned would be eliminated.

    11) In a book ‘ Hadith-e-Ifterak-e-Ummat’ Madani Mian says that gumrah are also Ummati and will eventually go to Jannah so why be so extreme in case of TuQ?

(At this point I told them that if gumrahi reaches to the limit of kufr then such a person will never enter jannah, so he says, yes but that it is for the ulema to decide, You cannot do that on your own and even after ulema have given a fatwa he may repent then what will you do with the fatwa?)

    12) My peer has’nt condemned him so how can I? You are confused because you are no one’s murid yet. That’s it.

NOTE: I can see so many loopholes in these arguments that they appear to be pieces of Swiss- cheese but yet certain points above piqued me. So any inputs are welcome. Should I argue about the matter with them at all or just drop it? I would also like to know about peer Arifuddin, I’ve seen him once only but have no idea about his aqaid. Earlier I only heard praise for SDI/DI from these people, now its condemnation mostly. A khalifa of Peer Arifuddin started coming to our city few years back and that’s when they became mureeds. They call themselves ‘Noori’. Brother Noori do you know him?

    Wassalaam.

    10) Sunnis have so many drawbacks:

    i) We keep fighting eachother on trivial matters.
ii) We have only translated such books as Ja-al-Haq, zalzala, Hussamul-Harmain etc. while they are translating Tafsir Ibn-Kathir, Ruhul-Bayan etc.
iii) We make deen difficult, they make it easy.
iv) We are engrossed in dunya so we have no peace though islam means peace. I’ve seen so many of sunni ulema, they have no peace, I’ve seen so many muballighs they have no peace and I’ve seen My own peer, he so full of peace and tranquility, doesn’t work for a living yet he holds langar-e-aam twice a week and serves chicken! While SDI serves chicken at their annual ijtema and say that it costs 10lakh /day!
    v) Madani Miyan has quoted Shah Waliulah and Ruhul-Bayan in which it is said in tafsir of “ Fa’lam Annallaha LaIlaha Illalla hu ” that it is obligatory to study about Allah’s dhaat & HIS sifaat while sunnis don’t teach this, my Peer teaches about Allah’s dhaat and sifaat.
vi) Allamah Saeed Kazmi, in a debate w/ deos, showed those present the Prophet himself , this is tahqiqi reply which none of the present day scholars can furnish, they only give mantiqi replies.
vii) Our sunni scholars have written some uncalled for things in the love of AlaHadhrat, this is their mistake, now opponents are making a issue of these statements.
viii) The naatkwan only recite for money, they don’t know the meanings of verses.

    7) He’s been declared a Mujaddid by a great scholar from Hyderabad, India and this scholar is close to Sayyid Hashmi Mian.

    8) Recently an MQI Centre has been set up at Mumbai :( and it was inaugurated by a famous Sayyid (I don’t remember who he named).
    9) These are matters of tasawwuf. Even Ibn-Arabi was declared kafir, Aurangzeb had a Majzub put to death, TuQ is a ‘Shaksiyyat’ and it is not easy to understand all that he says, so if you don’t understand something then you should keep quiet, like Imam Shafi said “ If Allah guides you through someone then if later on you find him doing something that you cannot account for, you should remain silent”. I know some of TuQ’ statements that I cannot agree with but I merely leave them. One shouldn’t go into these inter-ulema rivalries nor read books about such issues nor discuss them, Ulema have their own tahqiq which we aren’t obliged to follow, Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti is reported to have asked a non-muslim who wanted to convert to Islam to recite “……………………………….” (Presumably, Y’all know what). So this is Tasawwuf that we can’t understand. It’s a different vocab altogether.

    5) “Tahir Sunni Kyun Nahi” :

    i) This lecture is a MUST see, he’s replied to all the allegations and an SDI muballigh concurred w/ me that no scholar can ever refute this lecture.

ii) Jinnah was a Khoja but scores of scholars including Mufti-e-Azam Pakistan had declared that if anyone opposes Jinnah then his Janazah will not be allowed in Pakistan, so how come THEY still remain Sunni?

iii) The leader of Tehreek -e-Tahffuz-e-Nizam-e-Mustafa (Sallallahua’laihiwasallam) was a Deobandi , some binnauri, and 100s of sunni scholaars worked with him, so how come THEY still remain Sunni?

iv) If all Deobandis are kafirs then why do ‘sunnis’ not work to have them declared a religious minority like the qadianis, whether this effort is successful or not is a separate matter, why have they still not tried, how come THEY still remain Sunni?

    v) I always PRESIDE a gathering where there are deobandis or non-muslims but these mullahs accept memberships of committees headed by Deos, how come THEY still remain Sunni?

vi) In the Indian Muslim Personal Law Board, there are members of all religions and sects and sunnis also, how come THEY still remain Sunni?

    6) “ History of TuQ in his own words”

    i) He has suffered so many hardships to gain knowledge, few scholars alive today have suffered alike.

ii) He helped fellow-students from his own pocket-money, even if he had to go w/o food for 3 days in a row.

iii) He never accepted financial help from his colleagues or admirers.

iv) He gave away all his inheritance the day he got it. And payed his siboings’ by selling off his own house and so for many days lived in a jungle w/ his wife and children.

    v) His being given an extension in life by the Prophet Himself.

vi) The miraculous manner in which the first plot for an MQI Centre was obtained.

vii) He’s written this beautiful naath “ Main jo us waqt zindaa hota…“ (never heard it)

    (I know this is a classic case of ‘ He-told-me-so-himself ’)

    3) No scholar today is exempt from the charge of takfir:

    i) Peer Karam Shah ( such a great scholar and writer of such a great tafsir ) has been called a kafir.
ii) Haashmi Miyan has been called a kafir for a trivial reason ( him saying that prior to accepting Islam Hadhrat Umar (radhiAllahuanhu) was a BHAI (mumbai language))evn though it’s well-known that a Sayyid will never die as Kafir.
iii) Jilaani Miyan has been declared kafir ( yes, in his case it was right ).
iv) Professor Masu’d, who did yeoman service to the Maslak-e-Alahadhrat and whose efforts have been lauded by Allamah Okaarvi, also got only Takfir from the Ulema of Ahlussunnah.
    v) And there are so many other scholars from Pakistan.
vi) And followers of TuQ call Tajush-Sharia a Kafir.
vii) Mullah Ali Qari was called a Kafir.

    _________________________________________________________________

    4) The scourge of inter-scholar rivalry is rampant in the sub-continent and so we should turn a deaf ear to all of them:

    i) SDI/DI have been condemned.
ii) Ashrafis and Ridvis are rivals and keep quarelling.
iii) My peer Sayyid Arifuddin Jilani has also been spoken ill of.(He has a khanqa in Hyderabad and Maharashtra.)
iv) There are Sunnis who don’t agree with AlaHadhrat.
    v) All Pakistani scholars except Maulana Ilyas Qadiri have allowed Naath w/ Zikr but Indian scholars don’t agree.

    still more points after a while . . .

    1) Even Hashmi Miyan has said in one lecture: when the angels will ask, “Man-Rabbuka”, every person will name his God so the Hindu will say ‘Brahma’, the Christian, the Buddhist etc. etc.

    2) According to our knowledge, Ahl-e-Kitab cannot be called Kafirs because:

    i) They don’t perform Idol-worship.
ii) They only recite Allah’s name at religious events.
iii) Nowhere does the Quran call them Kafir.
iv) Nikah with them is halal.
    v) Their zabiha is halal.

(I could disabuse them of the first two notions, of the third they said maybe those verses are abrogated or have other interpretations, I told them to ask a scholar of their choice to which they replied that all scholars they had contact with were opposed to TuQ so that was not an option, they asked me to check tafsir Naeemi, I said I could’nt read urdu, so the point was dropped. About (iv) & (v) I said I’ll get the details)

    Assalamua'laikum.

Yesterday, after Jumuah salah, I had this discussion with four of my friends, all fans of TuQ. I will list here only the salient points of their response. Not all points may be relevant and some may even seem childish but I wish to give a complete picture of their mindset and thinking process.

Disclaimer: None of them are Minhajis, no MuQ in my city:) I know them to have been ‘barelvis’ even before I had heard the term. And they are well-meaning -- have their hearts in the right place—not cunning mavericks. So I didn’t argue with them, just made a mental note of their positions. The words in green are mine.

So please discuss the following points:
