and I was unlucky enough to be invited to a place once where an idiot who wore clean white clothes like the shuyukh, smelled of a pleasing fragrance and was supposedly the "imam" of one of the salafi places in the US, said that. in pakistan we have books whose margins are filled with the word madinah.

and went on to say : I ask what is there is madinah ? and everyone in the gathering laughed.

I did not know that the gathering was for this rotten scoundrel with a putrefied putrid heart! may Allah burn his tongue and destroy his fitnah!

about Al-Ĥasan ibn Álī ibn Abū Ťālib rađiyallāhu ánhū:
    Tārikh al-Khulafā by Jalāluddīn as-Suyūťī; pg.166-171

When he died, al-Ĥusayn came to the mother of believers, Áāyishah and sought her permission. She agreed and said: ‘It is an honor’. Marwān objected to it, and al-Ĥusayn stood his ground with his followers and drawn swords. Abū Hurayrah interfered and [stopped the fight]. Al-Ĥasan was then buried in Baqīý alongside his mother – rađiyallāhu ánhumā.

Even in his death, he remained a pacifist and a benefactor. A generous man, who could sacrifice anything so that others may live in peace. Magnanimous in that he could even forego the ultimate honor of resting with the Master himself! śallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam. Just so that Muslims didn’t fight on his account and live in harmony. He shows us that it is not just acts that prove one’s love to RasūlAllāh śallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam - it is more importantly the intention.

for Sayyiduna 'Umar radiyallahu ta'ala anhu to ask for this, it must mean that the sahaba believed that Rasulullah sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam can grant his blessings even after his demise.

and our master abu bakr radiyallahu ta'ala anhu asked the same. if there was no benefit from Rasulullah 'alaihis salam after his demise, then there is no reason for the sahaba to want this "more than anything in the world".

Al-Bukhari narrates in his Sahih, Book of Jana'iz:

When `Umar was stabbed he sent his son `Abd Allah with a message to `A'isha to "Ask her if I can be buried with my two companions," that is, in her room, next to the Prophet [IMG] and Abu Bakr. `A'isha replied: "I wanted the spot for myself, but I shall put him [`Umar] before me today." It had been her habit that if a man from among the Companions asked her that spot she would always refuse. She herself gave the following instructions before her death: "Bury me with my lady-friends (the wives of the Prophet [IMG] in al-Baqi`) and do not bury me with the Prophet [IMG] in the house, for I dislike to be held in reverence (inni akrahu an uzakka)." Ibn `Umar came back with the news, whereupon `Umar said: "NOTHING IN THE WORLD WAS MORE IMPORTANT TO ME THAN THAT RESTING-PLACE." Narrated by al-Bukhari in his Sahih.

Compare this to the impious sayings of those who claim that "there is nothing there."
