  2. talking of paradise, with the exception of a chapter in imam ghazali -:ra:'s -- kitab ba'd al mawt wa ma ba'dahu in his iHya--which other books are available which solely deal with the islamic paradise and what it contains therein?

who said that all sensual desires are impermissible? it is the christian idea of a paradise where one plays a harp forever, not a muslim's belief.

the caveat is necessary because, 'everything you desire for' does not include plenty of things. 'desires' are cleansed and only pure desires remain. desire to usurp or enslave fellow-beings or covet another man's wife or property are all unclean desires; when you enter paradise, these desires will be removed.

    surah al-fajr, 27-30
    27. o, the serene soul!
    28. return to your Lord, being pleased with Him and having earned His Pleasure
    29. enter among My [chosen, righteous] slaves
    30. and come into My paradise
mufassirin say that nafs al-mutmayinnah or the serene soul means that soul which is free from doubt and fear; and vouchsafed, safe; that which has submitted completely to the Will of Allah.

i remember reading in a book [probably mufti ahmed yar khan] that there won't be hijab/veil in paradise. because harmful and ugly desires do not exist in the first place, safeguards against it are not necessary. Allah ta'ala knows best.

    Allah ta'ala knows best.

crux: not all sensual desires are impermissible.

  5. [caveat emptor: your desires will have already been cleansed prior to entrance in the gardens. and only those desires which are permissible will remain.][/QUOTE]

Isn't heaven a place where all our sensual desires will be fulfilled too (as well as spiritual)? So your caveat doesn't make sense...

I mean why give us virgin maidens [houris] if we can't enjoy ourselves with them? Isn't it written that a man in heaven will enjoy conjugal relations and an orgasm will last for a year [by Imam Suyuti I think]?

same reason why fire burns and water quenches... Allah willed it to be that way.

we have a good way of ensuring perpetual life without sickness and everlasting youth in a garden full of luxury and absolutely zero negativity: die a good muslim. [if you live as a good one, chances are that you will die one, inshaAllah]

    ---
suppose a health-care company comes up with a procedure that proclaims everlasting life and restoration of youth for a certain fee and a known risk, how many would take it? i suppose their usual justification would be: 'the risk is worth taking.'

here, you don't do much except try being good - indeed a little inconveniences like sacrificing certain pleasures is a price you pay - but mostly, you have to be good. and then you will have an everlasting and unhindered life where there is no pain or agony and everything you desire will be yours.

i look forward to going there and i must confess [a secret desire] that sometimes i wish, this life was fast-forwarded to endtimes and the rupture and soon enter paradise, for:

therein are things: no eye hath seen; nor ear heard a lore -
no semblance which, hath ever crossed, a human heart before.

  7. Hi People,

A student asked me yesterday why a Muslim could have 4 wives & not 5, 6 or 3. Why 4? I said I was rather unsure but would try to find out. Any imput would be great.

Also they were wonering on the Islamic permissability of Cryogenics & gene munipulation say for health purposes or maybe to extend life...

    Thanks
