Just noticed this channel. It seems the Hindu-owned Zee Corporation is making headway in to Islamic Television (The company's Chairman, Managing Director and Founder is Subhash Chandra and its Chief Executive Officer is Puneet Goenka: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zee_Entertainment_Enterprises).

They're selling the idea as an "Urdu Infotainment Channel" (http://www.dishtv.in/Resources/Zee-Salaam875.pdf). However, with religious programming being broadcast it is clear that the TV bigwigs are intending to not only cash in on Islamic Television, but also control it.

Hindu Anil Anand, who is heading it, comments: "...maghrib & isha prayers, community updates, legal talk, legacies of Islam and more. Zee Salaam’s main goal is to promote Urdu language and its rich culture in a very positive and constructive manner." (http://www.dishtv.in/Resources/Zee-Salaam875.pdf). Yeah right! Hindu owned, Hindu run, Hindu controlled...seems only a Hindu could be positive about this.

I don't know how long it has been running, but seems very dangerous. They could even put Qadiyanis on there to represent us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg-CvtwLGGc
