yazid ibn abi sufyan (Sakhr ibn Harb) is a SaHabi - who was the son of abu sufyan and brother of mu`awiyah ibn abi sufyan raDiyallahu `anhum.
he is also known as yazid al-khayr. he became a muslim on the Day of Victory and participated in the battle of hunayn as a Muslim. RasulAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam gave him a share in the spoils of the war.
later, sayyiduna abu bakr raDiyallahu `anhu sent him to the levant in and gave him the charge of various armies. along with amr ibn al-aaS, abu ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah and shuraHbil, he was sent to palestine - and they won various victories en route; madayin, ramlah, jibrin and palestine. (dhahabi in siyar mentions that these four were generals in yarmouk and they did not answer to anyone else).
he was appointed the governor of palestine by sayyiduna `umar raDiyallahu `anhu and later was the governor of levant.
he passed away in the year 18 or 19 after hijrah.

#9350: yazid ibn mu`awiyah ibn al-aswad, who was among the migrants during the second migration to abyssinia (habasha).
#9351: yazid ibn mu`awiyah al-bakkayi, whom ibn Hibban attested that he was a SaHabi, but mistakenly also listed him as a tabiyi.
