whether UK is dar al-harb?
this question is pertinent for our times for the following regions:
- communist nations (china, north korea, vietnam)
- democratic western world (us, uk, europe, australia, etc.)
- add any other broader categories
Ala Hazrat identified
british-india as Dar Al-Islam - in his times, when the british raj was going on in an un-partitioned subcontinent.
can we call the modern republic of india Dar Al-Islam now?
now, firstly, the territorial boundaries have been redefined. the "india" that Ala Hazrat gave a fatwa for, no longer exists, both by geographical boundaries and by governance. for all practical intents and purposes, modern india, ie bharat ganrajya, is pretty much the anti-thesis of the "Islamic republic of pakistan", that is, for all intents and purposes it is the "hindu republic of india". while i still hold that pakistan is an utterly failed state and a disgrace of a nation-state, an abomination against the collective Muslim populace of the subcontinent, and a more ill-fated anarchic and corrupt jungle than india where more Muslims die at the hands of their brethren than they do in india at the hands of hindu mobs, it also doesn't undo the anti-Muslim sentiment in india both at official and unofficial levels, and we would be fools to deny it. so we need to re-answer this question of dar al-harb in regards to present day india.
i've mentioned communist nations separately than the democratic ones coz of two key differentiating factors - freedom of religion and freedom of expression (in theory at least)
ok, so china's china.
but what about the modern west? yes they do grant freedom to practice Islam (which is now increasingly being infringed upon at various official and unofficial levels), but they are also openly involved in wars against Muslims and support of evil israel. so do they need to be called dar al-harb or something else perhaps?
what implications does it have for rulings pertaining to migrating there and/or staying there for those children of immigrants born there or their convert populations?
long time back, i had read somewhere that prior to Imam Mehdi's zuhoor, other than Makkah and Madinah, the entire planet would become dar al-harb or dar al-kufr, but don't remember very well now. can someone please clarify?
