Something that often gets overlooked in parenting is the use of attaching a particular feeling to an action. This is because our experiences shape how we act and if their is a good feeling attached to it then we are more accustomed to doing something otherwise not. So instead of hitting a child to learn Qur'an, give him a sweet and smile lots and even make him laugh (within reason).
