Can he switch completely, or pick and choose??

the position being advocated is that he can pick and choose. One madh'ab per amal is just fine.

yes, i must admit i am a caveman but perhaps other cavemen like me will realise how taking from other maddhahib will be abused by the rukhsa-chasers.

first they will ask for citations and references for a position from their default maddhab, then once they realise that this maddhab is unequivocal on an issue then they will swiftly jump ship and ask what the other maddhahib say on this said issue.

mufti sahib asked for the citations from the hanafi fuqaha, of course mufti sahib being extremely well read knew that these citations were present, but then suddenly the topic of taking from other maddhahib was brought up.

i admit i am a caveman but to a caveman like me, this just seems like chasing ruksha; when the hanafi position was being discussed, and hanafi citations were being demanded then suddenly bringing up the topic of taking from other maddhahib?!

Allah states in The Holy Quran - "Ask the people of knowledge if you do not know."

ala Hazrat says in ajla al-Iylam:
"and if a layman asks his imam [regarding an issue] and then doesn't act upon it then this [asking his imam] would be futile and useless and the Shariah is exalted from commanding futile things."

It is shocking to see how many narrow minded, self conceited, bigoted ignoramuses are on this forum. There has not been a single satisfactory response to Abu Hamza’s point, instead just a tirade of ad-hominem attacks and to be quite frank some absolutely pathetic posts. Abu Hamza has quoted clearly and concisely what major ulema have said regarding this topic, if people feel that his citations are either ambiguous or out of context or worse still misquotations then please feel free to point these out. These opinions might go against the grain of what you have been taught and might be difficult for you to swallow but up until this point you have not adequately rebutted his positions nor have you presented any evidence of quotes to the contrary. Many posting on this topic are probably not even aware of the scholarly literature regarding the issue at hand yet nonetheless are ignorantly presenting views without any supporting evidence. I advise people to read Al-Iqdul Fareed by Imam Samhudi a comprehensive work on the topic and also Khlasatu Thaqeeq a short epistle by Shaykh Abdul Ghani. It seems many commenting on this thread are not looking at thus topic objectively but rather through the prisms of bias narrow mindedness which questions whether one is in actual fact sincere in seeking the truth or just championing the position they feel is right albeit with no evidence or explanation whatsoever.

you should consider writing in paragraphs brother....

well of course since your mufti sahib is an angel who reasons in the most objective fashion and without ad hominem attacks (whose samples can be seen here) and you yourself are a sincere fanboy, your outrage is quite understandable. Playing the victim is quite easy and usually the first trick in the bag to cover-up one's omissions. So please continue doing it.

your mufti sahib has been asked to defend his understanding of those quotes - and we will wait for his reply.

I guess alahazrat had not read samhudi and nablusi when he wrote his fatawa and your mufti sahib is the only one reads books and "scholarly literature" but please excuse us "bigoted ignoramuses" if we do not treat him like his fanboys. You see, we have better things to do.

the irony in that i've just been awarded a "seriously likeable" trophy - jazakumullahu khayr - the feeling is most certainly mutual, @Noori - as a senior moderator, how is it that your 'clean up' involved deleting a post by brother hashim aftab (who funnily enough, happened to oppose your friends) whilst you left the rest of the 'irrelevant ones'? hmmm... bias much?

like i said in my initial post on this thread, i won't entertain anyone other than mawlana aH, i think as senior moderator @Noori, my request should have been respected, but perhaps because i don't tow the same line, i'm not entitled to such privileges, after all, i've only just received the "seriously likeable" trophy.

sticking to the topic at hand, my post (num. 27) has not been answered, i've made my position abundantly clear. now, if there is a rebuttal then it needs to be stated here, only then we can move the discussion forward.

actually, you are acting like basirqadri, otherwise you would have appreciated that i have deleted more posts of those who are opposing you, but you could only noticed that i deleted your fanboy's post.

Lol, i shant respond to your insults, the correct position will become manifest (not that it hasn't already).

Atleast quote me properly, that part was referring to my 'request' to discuss with sidi aH only, but give yourself a pat on the back anyway, your input has been tremendous!

the correct position will become manifest (not that it hasn't already).

yes - someone (probably hashim aftab) inboxed you saying:

18588926_448878362171269_9189721252768302789_o.jpg

thereby declaring you the champion of the correct position. i mean someone messaged you on sunniport saying you are clearing up doubts. You MUST be right; need you say more?!

i see you have made an exception by replying to brother Noori, i was wondering if you could be so kind as to answer some of my questions mufti sahib? i have asked some on this thread, just scroll down.

i mean - what good are muftis if not to help the cavemen?

N.B.
if you are adamant that you will only reply to abu hasan then you should wait for his replies instead of declaring that you have made the correct position manifest. shaykh abu hasan has said he is busy and will reply in his own time. the least you can do is wait for him.

hopefully, there will be a follow up post IF these are 'pointed out'. follow on the main thread, from which this was forked.
