There is no limit on future sales to Pakistan, a State Department official said on condition of anonymity.

Pakistan's information minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, called the decision a "good gesture by the United States" and said the transaction would ease anti-American sentiment in the Islamic nation.


"This will fulfill our defense requirements," he said. "We had been lagging behind (India) in conventional weapons. This will improve the situation."


The United States reassured India that it had the administration's blessing to buy F-16s, or perhaps F-18s. India is contemplating a multibillion dollar purchase of fighter planes, including U.S.-built or foreign-made aircraft.
 
This is actually good news: Muslims need to have up-to-date- weaponry for self-defence purposes. The world only respects force. Having nukes is a big bonus for Pakistan. Being the only Muslim country to do so is good for Pakistan but a poor reflection on the Muslim world as a whole. With their wealth, the Arab countries should have become nuclear decades ago if they had invested money into technology.

IF Iraq actually HAD nukes America would NEVER have attacked it.
That is why America won't attack North Korea.
 
a paradox isn't it?

it is the weapon industry that makes america rich - and hence arrogant. it is utterly naive to think that america will give away something that can be used against it. buying weapons from america is actually strengthening it's economy and in no way wise; because they are selling only the outmoded ones - except to israel, that is. also, they know the flaws in those weapons since they made it. ergo, they may know how to stop it, if used against them.

what muslims need is not weapons but education and sense. brains prevail over brute force eventually. if not, we would be in the zoos fed by elephants and lions.

excepting a few objectionable words in jawab e shikwah, it remains an apt and fairly true commentary on the plight of muslims. may Allah guide us all.

still, Muslims must be able to defend themselves--ideally muslims will manufacture their own weapons. till then...
