assalam`alaikum,

the seventh nizam of Hyderabad mir osman ali khan had said, when
the ottoman khilafat saw its last day :

salateen.e.salaf sab hogaye nazr.e.ajal osman
musalmanouN ka teri saltanat se hai nishan baqi

all the rulers of the past have perished, Osman
the mark of the muslims survives because of your kingdom

The majlis-e-ittehadul muslimeen which was the popular movement lead
by bahadur yar jung in the Nizams dominion , reminded the Nizam of the
facts by echoing the same couplet witth an alteration :

salateen.e.salaf sab hogaye nazr.e.ajal osmaN
musalmanouN se teri saltanat ka hai nishan baqi

all the rulers of the past have perished, Osman
the mark of your kingdom survives because of the muslims

after the merging of Hyderabad with the Indian union this couplet
was lamentably read by the populace as

salateen.e.salaf sab hogaye nazr.e.ajal osmaN
musalmanouN pe teri saltanat ka hai nishan baqi

all the rulers of the past have perished Osman
the muslims, upon them, bear the marks left by your kingdom
