What we see really seems like a Manifestation of the Admonitions Rasūlullah ﷺ gave in his Ahādīth about the state of People's Eemaan in the End of Times; How difficult it will be to Protect one's faith & How fast Muslims will apostatize in Huge numbers

Sheikh Badr al-Din al-Hasani (d. 1254 AH) was asked:

Have we reached the time where the one who clings to his religion is like the one who clings to a hot coal?

He replied: "No, that time has passed & gone; we are in a time when a man sets out in the morning as a believer and ends the evening as a disbeliever, and a man ends the evening as a believer and sets out in the morning as a disbeliever, selling his religion for a paltry price from the world."

INSULTING THE SCHOLARS OF ISLAM IS KUFR

Al Allamah Ibn Nujaym al-Misri (d.970H) writes ;

الِاسْتِهْزَاءُ بِالْعِلْمِ وَالْعُلَمَاءِ كُفْرٌ

" To mock Ilm & the Ulama is Kufr"

(الاشباہ والنظائر pg 160)

Imam Ahmad Rida Khan clarifies this verdict, dividing it into 3 categories ;

1. To insult a scholar precisely BECAUSE he is a scholar of Islam is clear Kufr

2. If one acknowledges that honoring a scholar due to his 'Ilm is Fardh, but insults, abuses, or humiliates him due to some worldly enmity, then he is a Fājir (severe, open sinner)

3. If someone harbors hatred without any reason, then he is diseased at heart and inwardly impure, and there is fear of disbelief for him.

It is mentioned in Khulasat al-Fatāwā (Authority in the hanafi school, written by the early scholar from Transoxania, Taahir bin Abdul Rashid Al Bukhari (b.482 AH) :

مَنْ اَبْغَضَ عَالِماً مِنْ غَیْرِ سَبَبٍ ظَاھِرٍخِیْفَ عَلَیْهِ الْکُفْر

"Whoever hates a scholar without any apparent reason, there is fear of disbelief for him"

Sheikhi zadeh Damad Effendi mentions in مجمع الانهر;

الإستخفاف بالأشراف والعلماء کفر ومن قال للعالم عویلم او لعلوی علیوی قاصدا به الاستخفاف کفر

(فتاویٰ رضویہ ج١٤ ص٣٨٢)

"Humiliating scholars is Kufr.

Whoever calls a scholar ‘little scholar’ with the intention of belittling him has disbelieved"

Sayyiduna 'Abdullah bin Mubarak said ;

من استخف بالعلماء ذھبت آخرته

"Whoever belittles scholars has lost his Hereafter"

(الذهبی، سير أعلام النبلاء ١٧:٢٥١)

It is no secret that the staunchest enemies of scholars are those that detest Islam the most, like the Atheists & radical feminists

Why would anyone hate those that propagate islam except due to them hating the propagation of Islam & why would anyone hate the propagation of Islam except that he hates islam itself and whoever hates Islam cannot be Muslim

As for those fake "scholars" who twist the words of the Quran to deceive, oppress and take advantage of others and harbor heretical beliefs, Islam itself is their biggest refuter & opposer

Daalleen and mudilleen do not count as scholars - people like haneef qureshi; even a sahihul aqidah Sunni scholar who is in it only for duniya or a fitnah monger, rebuking him for those things doesn’t count as animosity to deen and deeni knowledge. Allah knows best.
