Does anyone have information on these neo-Deobandis from the third or fourth generation? They seem to have evolved—or mutated—and are now claim they are Ashʿari and Māturīdi theology than traditional Deobandi heresy.
One of them, Umar Rumi, runs a WhatsApp group and Telegram channel where he’s gathered a number of non-Deobandi Ashʿaris and Māturīdis, mostly from Arab backgrounds. He’s reportedly working closely with someone named Abu Dawood ibn Abdul Karim, who’s known to be a sidekick of Abul Hasan Hussein Ahmed—a hardcore Deobandi figure.
Umar Rumi has been spreading false claims against the Barelwis and is apparently a regular reader of this forum. He operates under the radar—his phone number is registered in Italy, but no one really knows who this "Umar Rumi" actually is. If anyone has any information on this Deobandi individual posing as an Ashʿari or Māturīdi, please get in touch with me.
