About this Book​

The Battle of Badr, mentioned in the Qur'ān, is among the most momentous events in the history of Islam. The Companions who participated in this battle are superior to all other Companions, and it has been related from the scholars of hadith that supplication after reciting their names is assured to be accepted.

Compiled primarily from al-Barzanjī's Jāliyatu'l Kadar and corroborated with classical sources such as ʿUyūn al-Athar of Ibn Sayyid al-Nās, this epistle lists the names of all the participants of the Battle of Badr — so they may be recited, particularly on the 17th of Ramadān, the commemoration of the glorious Day of Criterion, and through the intercession of these blessed souls, supplications are made to Allāh tāʿālā.

Some discrepancies and errors identified in earlier compilations were rectified and the names corroborated using other texts. A more detailed edition, covering biographical information of select Companions, notes on name variations, a brief background of the battle, and names categorised by tribe and family, will be released separately.
