Mufti Rashid challenges Sajid ‘Kodu’ Deobandi

Are they saying this in the literal sense, or a jest on his knowledge?

People calling him Kodu are not much if any taller then him. They are mocking him for over acting. Short people are said to have mental issue with wanting to prove themselves by over acting, false tough man synderome ... hence they calling him Kodu.

Degrading these Kuffar in subtle way is good as in case Sajid Khan Naqshbandi. He is a scum whom once i had known quite well. Treacherous, malicious, and a willfully deceptive, distorter, anything goes to defend Maslak type of person. Dont harbour any Husn Zan for this guy.

Rant alert.

Still making my way through this video and typing notes as I watch him cover the Ambethwi section.

One thing must be said. Mufti Rashid has done really well in highlighting something that we, as Barelwis, have handled abysmally; namely, demonstrating that refutations and takfir of Deobandi statements predate Alahazrat.

This is foundational material that anyone engaged in this field ought to know, yet regrettably many do not.

I have long maintained that if we are to dismantle the lazy takfiri caricature levelled against us, we must foreground the reality that Alahazrat did not initiate these judgements ex nihilo, nor were such rulings peculiar to those who followed him. The records show that censure of these statements existed prior to him and by other regions and scholars.

Credit where it is due, kudos to Mufti Rashid for bringing this to the fore.

That said, I do wish he had mentioned the fatwa of al-Shaykh ʿAbd al-Rahman Siraj declaring takfir upon Nanotwi. Its likely omission is understandable given that the fatwa itself has not yet surfaced in full, though an excerpt is quoted in Taqdis al-Wakil.

Locating that fatwa would be a great breakthrough for us; all the more so given that it was attested to by Mawlana Rahmat-Allah al-Kayranawi and others.

Again, credit where it is due - and I would be remiss not to acknowledge Mawlana Abu Hasan’s Sunni-Deobandi conflict infographic and TKM. They are both genuinely useful contributions.

In my view (and I may well have said this here before), what is now warranted is a shareable systematic tabulation of the four Deobandi statements, and the fatwas and debates in which they were refuted prior to Alahazrat.

I think such a resource would be invaluable.
