People! Can't we stop fighting?

I think we should improve Sunniport and make it become something which can refute yanabi.com. At least we are able to speak openly about issues here.
don't count on it. this forum was made precisely to avoid such quarrels and look where we are going! it is saddening and apalling to note that 'sunnis' seem to be interested only in fighting. if you do not believe me have a look at these stats:

views regarding this recent spat:
multimedia (titled: shaykh irfan shah) - 884 views (in two hours it rose from 792!) [just before i deleted it]
bickering (titled: shaykh ninowy) - 2490 views [is also deleted now]
refutation (titled: prof. tahirul qadri) - 1788 views
contrast this with:
on classification of tawhid - 95 views [even though it is older than the multimedia fracas]
how al-ashari became a sunni - 66 views.
it seems nobody wants to participate in healthy discussions. why don't we discuss tafsir, hadith and fiqh? we don't seem to be interested in those topics...but if it is a fight - well, we can put even the armorican gauls far behind.

----
here is an emergency rule: for the next few weeks, no contentious topics. we may allow it in the future, if people learn to behave with civility - perhaps, i don't know.

Stop playing games with people

Abu Hassan as a responsible person you should have deleted the Mashadi thread when it was initially posted. It's ironic that you first invite us to write on it and now it's not even good enough to be hosted on your site? If your admin of a site you should learn to respect peoples contributions. As I have said before, in reality, your no different from dictators at yanabi.com, they are also in a habit of deleting contents which doesn’t suite them. I think the particular thread was removed to cover-up flaws of people on this site.

Good on you! Well, it seems Muslims cannot discuss like civilised people, eh?!
Pity.
Don't you think by our behaviour we often reaffirm the stereotypes others hve of us?!
We are quick to lash out when we are criticised.
As for intellectual discussions--the lack of response is sad; i would say one factor is the rather large amounts of arabic quoted: most of us can't speak it or read it so instead of quoting arabic just a translation would perhaps be better.
finally, human nature enjoys discussing the forbidden!

when someone reproached me first for acting like the folk i criticize - he seemed sensible and mature. i agreed with him and thanked him because he was right. but now, i see that it was just another flash in the pan.

the only reason i deleted the post was to restore some order. unfortunately, i am accused of covering up, which is quite untrue. therefore, i will restore the thread but i will lock it. look for it in the bickering section.

inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji`un.

ps: if anyone is looking to turn this forum into some competing forum, they will be disappointed. if such people want to leave, it would not be a great loss to the forum.

Brother Abu Hasan, I commend the action that you have taken. Although i have not seen all the messages in the threads you have mentioned, i have read enough of them to realise that no good was going to come out of such discussions. Only if we can discuss these issues with proper manners, adab and the sensitivity that is required in such discussions can they be beneficial. If on the other hand we do not show the proper courtesy, which is usually what happens, then there is more harm than benefit in such discussions.
