I suppose one meaning which could be taken is that humans have always existed and will always exist in the All-Encompassing and Complete Knowledge of Allah. When there was none except Allah, you and I (and the rest of mankind) existed in the Knowledge of Allah.
I have no love for Mawlana Nazim (due to his antics) but I personally feel his words could be stretched to fit this meaning.
