Shaykh Monawwar Ateeq Razvi writes:
[here] is a brilliantly insightful and indispensible resource for readers on the life, work and manhaj of Imam Ahmad Rida Khan, penned in a simple yet concise manner by Shaykh Khalid Thabit from Egypt. This book is organised in order of the three life objectives of the scholarly work of the great Imam as he himself pointed in al-Ijaazaat al-Mateenah Li-Ulama Bakkah wa al-Madinah:

1. Staunch defense of the augustus station of the Beloved Prophet (Allah give him peace and blessings) (He produced huge collections on our Prophet's Khasais, Fadail, Seerah and aspects of Tazim to cool the eyes of the ummah)

2. Staunch rebuttal of the doctrinal innovations of the era (over two hundred works against wahhabis alone to ensure the Sunnni path remained unpolluted)

3. Life-long Service of the Hanafi Madhhab through teaching, authorship and fatwa-writing (He produced a huge fatwa collection though it misses about 10 years of his fatwas, published and indexed in 33 volumes - a 6 volume commentary in Arabic on Hashiya Ibn Abideen correcting, elaborating and refining it, and an intellectual group of specialist teachers in various Islamic sciences who later served Islam and Muslims throughout Indo-Pak)

am reading this at the moment (about 20 pages) and it looks promising and is amazing...coming from someone who has gone out with tabligh and considered the ahlu's sunnah (called as 'barelwis) as out of islam similar to bahai's and qadiyanis and then changed his view after reading about his imam.

a quick translation of a paragraph:
i have learnt - and this is my observation - that the love of the Prophet SallAllahu alayhi wa sallam is an exalted station that Allah ta'ala does not grant a heretic, an innovator, a hypocrite or a charlatan.

when a man is elevated to this rank, then you trust him and his religion and take from him with full confidence, because the Innocent Prophet sallAllahu Alayhi wa sallam has said: 'a man is with whom he loves'.

you will not find an innovator, except with a shortcoming and paucity in his love for the prophet SallAllahu alayhi wa sallam.

sub'HanAllah.

the shaykh owns and runs the renowned muqqatam publishers in cairo. he has thus far published a book by imam ahmad rida khan, two books by mufti akhtar rida khan and he has authored two works on imam ahmad rida khan.

I've just begun reading it, and the author mentions Ihsan Ilahi Zahir's work influencing the opinions of the arab `ulama, and this indeed is a problem. It is good that more works in Arabic are represnting Shaykh Rida in a more genuine light.

was-salam
